<< I'm sorry guys, but I feel no envy or desire viewing this post. After twenty years of service in multiple theaters of operation I find this to be nothing more than childish wish desire. Its easy to spend thousands of dollars buying hardware to blow away trees and dirt. If you have to use that against real living people however its another story altogether.

I must admit that I'm impressed you spent so much money trying to emulate real combat hardened soldiers. I'd be more impressed if you acyually were one though.

IIRC, Monel was in the armed forces. OK, so he was Air Force and everything, but its still better than the Coast Guard... ok, maybe not... better than the Merchant Marine... ok, again, maybe not... well, at least its better than the Junior (AF)ROTC!

Oh, with a grand total of 3 posts to your name, you arent all that high on the credible list...

BTW, Monel, just joking about the AF ;). You've served our country more than I have :)

So you equate the amount of posts a person has made on some "off topic" forum to real life? I feel truly sorry for you if thats your equasion of real life.

I know, I dont have all that many posts to bolster my credibility. I dont need them however. What I have is twenty years of service in multiple theaters of war. I know thats not as impresive as blowing up trees. I freely admit that I've never blown up a tree.

All I've done is earn a commendation for performance above and beyond the call of duty in Somalia.

I'm sure thats now where near as impressive as blowing up hostile Pines.

Monel,

I am jealous man... In the pic1, what is the first gun? The 2nd is an AR15 and the 3rd is a AK right? What capacity is the clip you have on the AK?
BTW, what other guns you own?

Sorry if it offended you, but in general, we have a lot of Junior Members come by, try to puff themselves up, and are being total frauds. However, even members with many, many posts can be frauds, as proven by dennilfloss. However, the percentage of frauds with <25 posts is greater than the percentage of frauds with over 1,000 posts. Generally, over the course of many posts, a liar will slip up. Thus, some credibility is lent by a large number of posts. However, note the word "some". Not total, not even high, just some. If I actually met him, and went shooting with him, then that would make me see him as more credible. Until I meet anyone in person, I wouldnt trust them from online conversations only. I am much more of a face to face person.

That said, I hope you didnt think I was calling you a fraud. All I was saying was that Monel HAS been in the armed forces.

SO YOU'VE DONE NOTHING TO STOP THE EVIL TREE MENACE!!! And you call yourself an American...tsk tsk tsk. hehe

I think the problem is not so much that you don't share the same feelings as Monel does on weapons, but rather that you take a shaky podium stance on it and make a claim to some sort of superior stance on the subject matter. Granted, as a general rule, I usually take things on this forum at face value unless there's evidence to the contrary. I think the troubling part of the matter is that you come off as arrogant in your posts. It has the connotation that "Well, since I was in the military, I'm more responsible and better off than these people who go off and shoot guns" Rather than "I disagree with your stance on weapons". That'd be akin to me saying that since I work on enterprise level software projects and use computers professionally, I'm better than all you people who just "tinker" with your provincial little rigs and homebrewed setups when, the truth of the matter is, a good number of those tinkerers could teach me a thing or two.

As far as credibility goes...you have to realize that this is the internet, where the story of the 300lb truck driver named Phil posing as a 16year old sexually active teen is continually in the back of our heads. So some skepticism is to be expected. Post count is really the only way of having any gauge as to the validity of any claims made, not to say it's a good way. I mean, if yoda292 were to come in here claiming to be a US Marine with a enough metal on his chest to build a battleship, who could really verify that?

I'm just sayin...you're bound to arise suspicion in any claim you make, so just make them cautiously.

Yes I'm in the forces. Thats one reason I dont find any fascination in weapons. They're tools, very dreadfull tools. When you see the results of these tools in action it tends to make any normal person despise the fact that we ever developed them in the first place.

As for my credibility. I dont really care if anyone here believes me or not. The simple fact is that I'm fully aware of my achievements, that really is all that matters to me. The choice to believe or disbelieve is entirely your own. I see no need to convince anyone of the validity of what I say.

What I really dont understand is the lack of belief. Is the concept of a person choosing to serve his country so alien that its beyond comprehension? I can state that not only do I choose to engage in this proffesion, millions of others world wide do as well.

I wont attempt to hide the fact that I despise weapons, as I said, I've seen the damage these things can inflict first hand. Those weapons are not designed for any purpose other than the taking of human life. From a professional point of view I have a minor interest in such things. However I certainly do not share the fascination many others have for these objects of destruction.

I believe that for many men a weapon is no more than a phallic symbol. They're fascinated by them because they believe possesion of them bolsters their manhood in some intangible way. Having said that it must be noted that its just my opinion. As such its as subject to error as any other opinion.

Well, there have been a fair number of frauds on the board, claiming they were in various military branches. PCResources and NiklasRuegen come to mind immediately.

For the rest of your post, some of us like to hunt, and others just like the feel of a 45 kicking back into your hand.

Ahhh! I see, so is a fully automatic assault rifle with grenade launcher used to hunt small or large game? :)

As I said, its just my view point that weapons repulse me. I know that I'll never be able to rid myself of the images of children horribly maimed by weapons wielded by men.

The ironic thing is that I'm in the Navy. Its just a fact that in my trade one can serve with all branches of the military. When I went to Somalia I never expected to be sent ashore. However people of my trade were required. So four of us went ashore and were attached to the RCD (Royal Canadian Dragoons). Our days consisted of doing continuous shotgun runs in a truck through the streets of Mogadishu.

Its not widely known but not a day passed without our coallition forces losing men. I still remember the day we left the compound at the airport. It was about 4:30 in the morning. About a hundred yards from the gate we saw 6 Somali's lined up face down on the ground. They'd been caught during the night moving a field artillery piece within close range of the encampment. It was speculated that this was to provide support for a major attack.

Somalia made me realize the foolishness of admiring weapons of destruction. I lost friends in that place, many of us did. I can also honestly state that it was by far the worst deployment I've ever been on. Yugo didn't come close to it.

As for proof, well I could send you pictures of myself when I was over there, or my medals. I could even see if I could scan the commendation if you'd like.

Well, in my opinion, weapons are here to kill people. Period. I think I'm just too much of a wussy to enjoy guns cuz I'm actually scared of them. Nice behaviour you're showing there 1337 member.
