The hitachi is supposed to have a bad response time. I suppose you'd notice if you were sensitive to that or were gaming. I noticed another thread about someone ordering a 15.4" dell lappy and requesting a screen on the phone, so I assume it can be done.

Yea.... i submitted my order online though So I could be screwed.... well have to see... I called today to talk to a rep and they said I needed to contact the online group to get anything changed... ill call first thing in the morning...

I would have also considered the HP ZD7000 which is an impressive desktop replacement laptop.

I called to change the warranty today, and they frickin have to delay my order to change the warranty. WTF is that? your just changing a piece of paper and you have to delay my whole order? :|

damn, thats an impressive laptop rossman.... it would have been $300 more for the same specs though Its just the difference of the screen

If they send you one with a Hitachi screen and you don't like it....send it back. There are LOTS of people on notebook forums that have done just that. They called and requested the Samsung screen. The person(s) they spoke with said that they couldn't guarantee a Samsung. The screen they received was a Hitachi.....and the laptop went back. That's always an option because I think Dell pays shipping back. If you're going to spend that kind of money with a company, they need to try their best to send you the product that you ordered. Since they obviously know that a lot of people are unhappy with the Hitachi screens, if you request a Samsung one...they should try their best to accommodate you. BTW....I think you can look up your product id on dell's site and find out what kind of screen you'll be getting. If you aren't sure where to check, go to notebookforums.com and check under the Dell section. It shouldn't take long to find the info that you need. That place is a great source of information on Dell laptops. Good luck and I hope you get the Samsung screen!

Gobadgrs, it should be in the first post by DELL-sakor1. You're looking for the first way to check to see what screen you have. That will tell you if you have a Hitachi or Samsung screen on the way.
