I am not one for dissing them as my family is in law enforcment. However, some make poor cops just like some make poor parents. They can't take a step back and objectivly observe the situation before they put their foot in it.

To me its a good thing that people can question the police. I would still heed any directions, but dont be afraid to question.

Note, the campus Fausto was referring to was the CDC(Center for Disease control) campus, not a university. If you already knew that then please ignore me.

Rent a cops are usually idiots. For some reason, around here, most of them are fat or old, I wouldnt trust them with my security in any event.

There's honestly nothing very scary here you could get to. The building housing the research with nasty stuff is quite secure.

The very idea of it has kept me out of the state entirely. You never know where he might ride.

By your logic, if I was speeding on an empty highway at 3 in the morning and a cop pulls me over, I can say "Look, there's nobody around and I can't hurt anyone but myself. Therefore, it's not speeding. Let me go"?

Edit: Your logic being that common sense or convenience should supercede law (or rules).

Your analogy is off. It's more like I walked through an unmarked land mine, managed not to blow myself up by dumb luck, and was told to walk back through it by the cop.

.... common sense ought to supercede law. Laws are written with the intent of putting common sense in writing; and "common sense" can adapt to society far quicker than can written law. There's little moral difference between abiding by the law verbatim and abiding by the spirit of the law. Legislators can't stipulate every possible situation applicable to every law- it's up to the public (law enforcement included) to interpret the gray area.

It's not completely clear to me why your didn't make a break for it as you were so close.

For added drama, you could have turned around as if going back, got into gear, pulled a tight U, and sprinted out of that Controlled Area. :D

I'm a trouble maker.

I'm a trouble maker.
Two reasons:

1) It was uphill from a standing start on a bike.

2) There was an actual Dekalb County cop behind the Fake Cop looking more and more pissed off as I argued with the Fake Cop. :p

I'm thinking your diagram should be redrawn to reflect nearby topographic features.

My second plan with the added drama would still work as it eliminates the standing start issue. The county cop adds a more dramatic affect to the entire situation and would make an excellent posting for tomorrow's ATOT!

You're either kidding or you completely suck in the field of "reading comprehension". I shan't hazard to guess which.

The readings were inconclusive. I've known people to say far stupider things on the internet in total seriousness. :p

Fausto, you are correct that the cop should just get you out of there in the shortest route. He was probably retarded in not letting you pass. However, you already (a) entered a controlled access area without authorization, an area where cops are standing by to protect and (b) implied that you were considering breaking a direct order from a cop. Both of which could get you into big trouble. Should cops just ignore those things to make you happy? I agree with Amused. It is the cops job to make sure no one goes through that gate (in either direction). He is just doing what he was commanded to do. Give him a little break (especially when you have already done multiple wrong things).

The difference between humans and computers is the ability to critically evaluate a situation, consider all facts, and make a decision. A computer just does the same thing over and over, even when it's no longer logical to do so.

The cop in this case sounds like a robot with a gun.

Then again, in a way that's pretty cool...CURSE YOU POPULAR ENTERTAINMENT!:|

I agree with you 100%, but sadly, the judicial system does not.

Dude, consider yourself lucky he didn't give you a ticket. I was at the Metro station and the parking lots were packed. At this moment I was blocking the road and the handicap spot so I decided to pull into there so ppl can go.. exact moment the damn cop came and give me a ****** ticket. If I were to stay on the road I would block the entire road and the 2 empty handicap spots.. but the damn cop didn't see that. All he could see was my car was occuping the handicap spot.

When it come to cop, logic fail miserably. Remind me of Chef Wiggum in The Simpson.
