I'm FINALLY making the switch to Mach3! How often do you change blades?

I'll go through a blade every 5-6 shaves. gets expensive with a Mach3Turbo

maybe its time to switch to a razor??
What are the Pros/Cons of the Mach3 vs electric.
How much does the Mach3 cost in stores, and blades? What kind of shaving cream is the best? And whats the proper technique for shaving with a mach3 🙂

Not much cause I don?t shave as much as I should. I haven?t shaven in a week now, and I look like Chewbacca. 😉

Usually, I can get about 10 shaves from a blade. After ~6, it tears a lot, but I'm a cheap bastard so I put up with it. 🙂

I've been shaving w/ the Mach 3 for over a year and I must have changed the blades twice? Is that good from a hygiene point of view? I don't notice any difference when I switch them. I have a feeling I'm not being very smart......

mulderizer it feels a lot better when you change the blade.. for me at least. when they get real dull it feels like the blade is ripping your hair and it is a pain in the a$$ because usually you will have to go over the same area a bunch of times. i am cheap though so i use the same razor for at least 10-15 times. ive used mach3 and sensor excel. mach3 is the better of those 2 i think, but I would really like to try out electric. I will trade of some closeness for convenience.

I used to use an electric but switched to a Mach 3 Turbo about 2 months ago. I change the blades after about 6-8 shaves. I have never had an electric give me as good a shave as the M3 Turbo does.

I have been using the Mach 3 for about a year.

I recently ran out of blades and as I was feeling particulary broke, I bought some Schick Xtreme 3.
They can't be that bad I thought.......think again.

Every time I shaved, I would get cut - this never happened with the Mach 3.
Plus the Schick blades were blunt after a couple of shaves....the Mach 3 blades last much longer.

I don't like it because you don't have any control. It's great for shaving an open face, but if you have any facial hair, it's tough to trim around it. When I tried the Mach 3 2 years ago, I had a goatee and sideburns and I ended up using two razors. The Mach 3 for most of my face and a Atra 2 for the detail work.

How often do I change the blades? Well.. Depends on how often I shave. So far it has been over a week between shaves. Heh. I guess that's a perk for living out of your house and working on the phone.

I use a Remmington Microscreen 3 TCT. Shaved this morning before work and I feel no stubble at all, especially on my chin area where it comes in most.

I used to use a regular blade but they would always rip up my skin. Even the Mach 3. Skin was just too sensitive to handle them. I switched to an electric about a year ago and it's the best thing I ever did.

I just switched to a Norelco Advantage 6705 (One of the trihead razors with lotion goo), and it actually cuts pretty damn close. The kicker for me was that I used to use a mach 3 which I would kill a blade a week on. You figure a buck per blade (which is actually cheaper then you will find them) and you are up to $52 a year, plus shaving cream. My electric was $70, you figure you switch the heads once a year ($20) and have virtually no other expenses. plus, it's faster and cleaner then regular shaving. Best decision I've ever made

I've been using the Mach 3 pretty much since it came out. My skin is sensitive and I would always get nicks and cuts from other blades, but have yet to have it happen with the Mach 3. Strangely enough, my fuzz is not all that tough, so I usually go around 2 months (shaving almost every day) with a single blade, so the high cost of the replacements does not bother me at all. I've tried electrics before, but they've always made my skin itch, even when using aftershave. With the Mach 3 I don't use aftershave, I shave before I get in the shower and by the time I get out of the shower there is no itching/burning on the face.

The Mach 3 is amazing. Long or short, hard or soft, it handles everything beautifully. I usually get 5 shaves from each blade. That can be one week or three, depending on whether I can be bothered shaving.

Is shaving with that Norelco just as effective if you dont use the lotion??

Buy your blades in bulk, it's uber-cheap compared to anywhere else.

I have the Self-cleaning Braun Syncro, it is very close to a razor and more then good enough to use day to day. If I want to be super close and razor shave I use the trusty old Gilette Sensor Excel. BTW my dad has the goo shooting norelco and its not as close as my Braun....he's kinda pissed now and wants a Braun, good thing I live 7 hours away.

WELL i just went out a bought a mach3 turbo and a pack of blades.........................BUT i have to wait another few days to grow a beard (cuz i just shaved yesterday) grrrrrrrrrrrr i wanna try this puppy out! 😀
