I'm halfway into a gallon of something called golytely (it's making me go heavily) unfortuantly. It tastes like water with crushed aspirin in it . . . I'm dead. . .have not been able to eat today. My arms are shaking, I'm tired of going to the bathroom, and I won't be able to eat until after noon tommorow. . . There has to be an easier way to peek in your colon. . . .

I chewed up some chips a minute ago and spit them out for a taste of something . .

She is probably use to not eating . . . not me. . .

Since I knew I could not eat today, last night at 10 oclock I went to Wendy's and got a Triple Cheesburger with mayo n pickles, and supersize fries, a large coke, and 2 5piece Chicken Nuggets - and a frosty for desert. . .

and you are paying for it ;o it's tough man but you have to stick it through. just keep going to the bathroom and throwing up because until you do, you won't feel any better. my mom had to go through the same thing very recently. she said it's the worst feeling ever but once she went to use the restroom and throwing up, she got better and better. after that, it'll be the hunger and thirst that'll kill you ;)

I really feel your pain, as I've had to do this too. But, the sucky part is, that if you eat more BEFORE, you have more stool in your colon to clean out, and thus you have to drink more of the golytely, prolonging the suffering. And trust me, golytely is MUCH MUCH better than the stuff they used before (dizziness, nausea, vomiting, seizures....imagine, stuff going out both ends at the same time!)

MD.

What I don't understand is there is a new thing called a non-invasive colonoscopy where they just test the stool for genetic problems and blood, why don't docs do that? (I suggessted it). . .

I did it just a few months ago. It sucks. I feel your pain. On the plus side, the day before is the worst part. The procedure is nowhere near as bad as the not eating and cleansing.

Doesn't work as well basically....low sensitivity and specificity. The "virtual colonscopy" uses CT scans to create a composite image of the colon, however it misses most polyps. And, if it finds one, well, guess what, you need a colonscopy to get rid of it anyway. They do still do fecal occult blood testing, but again, doesn't detect cancers per se.

Remember to ask the Doc to record it for you, get it burned to DVD. Just for those times when you need to get rid of unwanted guests at the house.

I got two pictures from mine. I asked my doctor if they video it but I think they said that they don't. They took some stills though to document it.
