A. As long as the movies (or previews) start on time, why are we complaining?
B. You don't have to watch the commercials; you can ignore them and talk through them or do whatever you want.
C. If you really can't stand it, don't show up for the movie way ahead of time - the only scenario where this might not be easy is if you like to go to premiers and thus want to get good seats.
Personally, I don't mind the price of movie tickets. You pay for big screen and the crowd experience (maybe I'm just spoiled with decent theaters, IMAX and digital screens and stadium seating with decent high back/semi reclining seats); you simply can't get that holed up at home. Batman Begins on the IMAX was in-fvcking-credible, and there's no way its anywhere near as good as at home (I'd also like to mention there are drastically fewer, if any, ads/previews on IMAX screened movies).
In truth, I actually find the ads somewhat of a plus if I'm seated and have a long wait before the movie is scheduled to start (e.g. at a premier showing). What really pisses me off is the price of food and drink at theaters, because they?re a good 300%+ higher than if you smuggle stuff in (which I?ll admit to doing, because it is less of a crime than the prices they charge).
