Go with DDR2 @ 667MHz, if your board can take it. Some might take it but only run it at 533MHz so do some checking.
Regardless, the relatively slow timings (high latencies) of DDR2 make it a virtual tie with DDR performance-wise at the moment.
Why get the 667? His board isn't even close to being able to handle that speed. The only reason to get the faster ram would be to use it in a future system. Who knows whats in the future though? After a couple of years when he's ready to upgrade again that ram may be obsolete.
