I cannot grasp why someone that has a perfectly good roof over their head would intentionally do all that work just to sleep in the snow.

If sleeping in the snow was fun we wouldn't go through the expense and trouble of having a roof in the first place.

I went camping in a snow cave about 10 years ago. It was pretty awesome and nobody died. Unfortunately the entrance to our cave went right into the sleeping area so the wind blew right in. I built one in my backyard before that which had an entrance that curved into the main area and it was much warmer. People that haven't been in one before would be surprised how warm they can get.

Used to do a lot of winter camping in the Boy Scouts, we built plenty of shelters out of snow, always a good time. We even built one that had a small vent in the roof and we built a fire in it, as long as you keep it small enough it won't melt the shelter, and it gets plenty warm enough in there.

We well know that it would be asking a lot for you to take the time out of your busy day to scroll down the thread you are already reading.
