Hi I'm a PC and I don't charge hundreds of dollars for incremental updates.

huh? Windows 7 will be an incremental update of Vista. And honestly Vista could be looked at as incremental over XP, I mean Areo is whatever and DX10 is a joke.

Oh, 98 was basically 95 with less bugs and better PNP & USB support, it should have been... FREE for 95 owners.

MS hasn't made a new OS since NT.

you fail...

Your bias is showing.

sorry for telling the truth, but I've ran Every OS that MS has put out sans ME. And there are basically 4. Dos - 3.1 - 9x & NT. Vista is just NT with more eye candy.

As far as average user experience goes, I can't argue with this point of view. On the system admin side, it's a different world.

I said nothing about Apple in my post, zerocool84 was taking a jab at Apple for charging for what he considers updates and not upgrades to their OS. Microsoft is just as guilty of this. There are many things you can pick on Apple about - this isn't one of them...

I suppose I could make the same argument if I chose to ignore what was going on underneath and only focused on what the OS looked like. Making this argument is easy, see I can do it to.

Every time Apple comes out with a new OS it's just a few visual tweaks, nothing more! Apple hasn't made a new OS since OS7!

Don't Mac Pros start at $2k or something?

$2,799.00

Damn, I guess no hookers and blow for the Mac.

Time Machine alone makes Leopard worth buying, it's exactly what MS's weak ass "System Restore" should have been. Apple tends to add a few very good new features with each release. Where MS tends to say "well we couldn't put DX10 into XP because uhh.... XP isn't powerful enough to support it" I recently upgraded from XP to Vista and I'm scratching my head what exactly I paid for. Anything changed "underneath" I'm sure could have been added to XP in a service pack.

Well shit, paying that much for incremental releases, they better be worthwhile. Also with 7 different versions of OSX.....shit that's some cash right there.

That would have been one hell of a service pack.

Maybe I'm confused, but I read those links and most of what I read was talk about features in Vista that MS copied from Apple, and features that aren't really worth a shit.

so I change my stance from Vista is overpriced, to Vista is mostly a waste.

Hi, I'm a mac. I invoke misguided feelings of superiority in snobbish mac users and work very hard to isolate an already sequestered community of tech-losers from real people. ;)

I'm a PC and I run Linux, the rest of you can go to hell for being closed source and forcing people into using your "standards." Our open source non proprietary software is the way to go. Even if it is a bit of a pain in the ass to setup and some things don't work no matter how much you try and gaming is kinda abysmal.

I'm a Linux user, so there. If you can't make fun of yourself, you're too uptight. :p
