huh? Windows 7 will be an incremental update of Vista. And honestly Vista could be looked at as incremental over XP, I mean Areo is whatever and DX10 is a joke.

Oh, 98 was basically 95 with less bugs and better PNP & USB support, it should have been... FREE for 95 owners.

MS hasn't made a new OS since NT.

you fail...

Windows 2000 was a pretty serious overhaul of NT... they added a totally new management GUI and much better plug and play hardware support. Every NT based version of Windows after that seems to have mostly cosmetic changes, though.

Maybe the core is NT, but there were so many overhauls, especially on the win server side in regards to disk management, group management, fileshare, etc.. that most of the critical features were actually overhauled. While the "core" may be from NT, to say its basically the same is false. If you took a base model bmw , stripped it down to the frame and rebuilt it as a "M" edition 5 series and said it was the same.... n/m

If you install XP on your mac

Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of getting a mac?

Yes.

It's a lot cheaper to just install OSX on a PC (google it) to run the handful of Apple apps worth running.

$$$ goes a lot further with a PC, and if you have even remotely decent computer skills, you can keep it secure.

Hi, I'm a PC and I too can run Unix/Linux apps, just install the FREE OS.

Oh, and if I want a MAC on my PC, I do have the option of running it virtually inside my PC or even change the skin but who the hell wants to do that?

I wonder what the marketing budget difference is between Apple and Vista anyway. I see way more commercials from Apple than MSFT. And, you can't really count ads for things like office, since that product has nothing to do with the OS/Hardware.

I covered why I use osx and not linux in my post. Virtualization is not a good option. Simply put it is my opinion that the best desktop unix on the market right now is OSX.

Yes, it is officially unix.
