tonight, at about 9:15, i took the life of another being.

i completely destroyed a cat in the middle of the road. i swear, it honestly just appeared... =/

usually i dont feel bad about running over things, i take out rabbits, turtles, coons, opossums all the time...but this was a cat.

and it had a collar on it, with a nametag that i was not about to try and touch.

i probably killed someones best friend today. RIP little buddy.

That's not your fault. I absolutely love cats but I don't feel guilty when some stupid owner lets their cat roam into a busy street.

killing felines should not be a foreign concept to you by now...

i can sympathize... it sucks to hit any animal, for me.

but, you're a douchebag for not taking the cat to the owners so they could ury it. i'd be heartbroken if my cat never came home and i never found out why :(

i'd want the guy who accidentally hit my cat to tell me. you would too.

You never know how people will react under stress. They'll most likely blame you.

you are either a douche behind the wheel or have awful luck. I've hit one opossum in my entire life, that's it. when I see a squirrel near the road I slow down. if you take out animals all the time you should probably slow down a bit.

I agree with this. You should have at least made an effort to call the owner or someething.

I never know how messed up-crazy someone is... so I'm careful about who I talk to.

Not everyone is a rational human:
for example, someone that loves his cat but clearly doesn't mind if it gets run over based on the fact that he let it run free.

It's not murder if it doesn't have a soul.
So I can kill people too? Cool, brb.

Whereabouts do you live?

Where I lived, deer impacts were so common that car insurance carriers, or at least StateFarm, didn't charge you any deductible for deer-related damages - they paid the full bill. The damn things are absolutely everywhere, and they frequently enjoy bounding in front of cars at night. Or into them - my dad's car was damaged when one ran down a small bank and rammed the rear passenger-side door, during daylight hours.

We need to figure out how to reprogram their DNA so that they can have an inherent apprehension when it comes to long, dark, flat rocks, which have large fast-moving objects running along them all the time. (Or at night, learn to fear mysterious glowing orbs.)

Some people don't get that there are places that animals 'jump' out in front of you and other places ware they have learned better.

Rabbits are notorious, they will run across the road, get spooked by the on-coming car and run BACK across the road in-order to get 'away from the danger' only to get themselves killed.

the rabbits ive killed are just retarded. they run away, and then, like you said, right towards me. i cant swerve from them in either direction.

the raccoons ive hit have all been really close to street corners, (near sewers), and i usually hit them mid-turn. i dont purposefully hit things, but honestly some things cannot be avoided. im not putting my life in danger to save a squirrel or a rabbit.

Which is why you aren't honestly a murderer; I agree that the value others place on the animal elevates it, but still: if it was a child you'd still only be a man-slaughterer;

But I am sorry those people left their cat out for you to run into.

OP sounds innocent though, as if it really just appeared. What if it was a 5 year old kid, would he still be treated the same?

oh, i know im not a murderer. i love cats, i was just saddened that the poor thing was probably going to curl up and sleep with it's owners tonight. now, well not so much.

True stuff... I bet the OP destroys pussies all the time. He just plows right through them.

Anyway, I think this has nearly happened to me a few times. Luckily for those jackass cats I actually stop and make sure they don't get ran over. I'm kinda smart.

I think I killed a squirrel or possum once. Bastard ran out in the middle of the road right as I was going down. There was no way for me to even take my foot off the pedal in time.

You really should of notified the owner. Even if you don't want them to know you did it, just say you saw it on the side of the road at the very least. I'd like to know that my pet has passed away instead of worrying and going out looking for it. The owner is dumb though letting it roam free.

Bad advice. BAD! DO NOT DO THIS

THE OWNER WILL RAPE YOUR ASS IF THEY EVEN THINK IT'S YOU! SERIOUSLY! DO NOT DO THIS!
