They aren't trying to make a public an inventory of every gun one owns, just the names of gun owners. No one will know if you have a cache of quality firearms or a half-rusted shotgun from such a list.

Classy, stop it, you are scaring me. You are making reasonable arguments in a gun thread.

LOL yeah I know right :) heheheheheheehehe

But hey this one is easy. No one has any business knowing what someone has in their own home. Especially not some damn news organization.

Would you want them to make public the names of people who go to church? Who own a sex toy? Who make over $100k a year? Who are on welfare? Do drugs? It's a privacy thing, no one has a need to know what I own.

It doesn't matter. Legally owned private property in a private residence is nobody's business at all. Especially the governments. You agree with it because you like to see gun owners villified. You HATE guns.

When totally inane things like this come up, one has to wonder if they're really just a smoke screen produced for larger issues to be glossed over, such as IL's massive budget/debt issues.

I don't have a problem with such information being made available for a specific purpose - i.e. assisting with a Law Enforcement or official background investigation, or the like. But I have a serious problem with a (news organization, in this case) gaining access to the total listing as part of some fishing trip...

The Communist Appeal in Memphis pulled this shit a while back with handgun carry permit holders in TN. Needless to say, the backlash was swift and effective.

And zero.

Was going to post a pick of us together with a nice message for Nick but didn't want it construed as anything more than just a big fat middle finger.

Oh, and here's a list of posts, by me, with the word "gun."

And that doesn't even include this little beauty not more than a weak ago in OT:

Boy do I hate guns and gun owners. You're a dick, Nick.

As government property, you're allowed these privileges. It's their right to pick and choose what is in their interests to inventory. :whiste:

some backgrounds and Law Enforcement already have access to the info.

these people should be less worried about who has a FOID and a gun, and more worried about those who don't have a FOID but have firearms.

chicago dems still think that no legal funs in chicago = no crime

Illinois is broke. Why would they waste their money to even try to make this information available. It would be a waste of resources... oh wait, I bet the AG has a friend who can make the system to provide this information to the public. That would make more sense. However, if the government is serious about checking the system, hire an auditor! That's what those people do!

If this is ruled legal, can we request the names of everyone who has a driver's license in Illinois? What about who attended and/or received degrees from public univerisities and colleges in the state? Can I have everyone's fishing/hunting licenses? See the complete waste of money it is to provide this to the public for no reason?
