Being from Southern California, there are many Mexican immigrants. I don't mind them all, because immigration is what America is all about. But what I REALLY don't like are ILLEGAL aliens, especially the Mexicans. And if you guys agree with me that the government gives these illegal immigrants too many benefits, give me an AMEN!

Stupid Kansas has buckled in, giving tuition breaks to illegal immigrants that us TAXPAYERS HAVE TO PAY FOR!

Illegal immigrants are putting their kids in the same public schools as our 100% American kids, which makes the teachers job harder, which doesn't allow our children to learn much!

And sure, some of you may be saying "But they're just looking for a good life and a good job . . ."

Yeah . . . and I'm guessing, so what Mohammed Atta?

We need a new proposition : Better border control!

I don't really mind illegal immigrants that much. However, I do think that it would be better for the US to have border control for security purposes and then up the amount of legal immigration.

The thing I don't like (and I live where there is a problem to: Texas) is that we must treat them medically and they can file for welfare and they can go to school for free, but I have to pay for it. Several southern Texas Hospitals are on the brink of bankruptcy because hey, you can hop the boarder to the U.S. and get free healthcare before they deport you. I don't think we should treat illegal immigrants as citizens or give them any rights other than a right to go home and try the legal road.

It sounds coarse, but it is not America's problem if a person does not like their country (Excuse my improper English), but America cannot import everyone that wants to come. There is limited space here as well as in other countries and we have our own problems.

That is what America is doing so if it is so horrible that you just cannot stand it, you should probably leave. I don?t blame the illegal for wanting to come hear in seek of a better life. I do blame the U.S for not having stronger laws to prevent this. One I thing we need to strengthen our boarders not just to keep out illegals but others too. Two we need to change the law the just because someone was born in the U.S. makes them an citizen. I think your one of your parents needs to be a legal citizen. Another problem I have is it is illegal to hire illegal immigrants but here in AZ we created places to hire them so they would stop hanging out in Home Depot parking lot looking for work. Every day of the week the Home Depot about a mile from my house has between 100 to 200 people lined up in the parking lot looking for work, are they all illegal immigrant I don?t know for sure but I would bet the majority of them are. We need stiffer laws against those who hire the illegals.

Well, I'm just mad at how easy it is to cross the border! All you do is climb a fence and you're in! My dad had SO MUCH HARDER!

My father had been accepted to Arizona State University, but he couldn't get ahold of a student visa. He had to wait more than 5 months until the American Embassy in India would let him get one. The only problem was that the embassy did not mail visas, so my dad had to take a train from his village-town to the big city more than 250 miles away (about L.A. to S.D.), get the visa by 4pm closing time, get back on the train to his village, spend about 40 minutes with his family AT the train station, then board another train to Bombay to fly to the United States . . . all in a span of LESS THAN 1 day!

Not only that, but this was during the monsoon season, and during the trip, the train got stuck on the tracks, so he had had to go out of the train, walk 4 miles in the rain with luggage, grab a taxi at the nearest town, drive to the embassy, got his visa precisely at 3:53 (he actually remembers), take the taxi back, find a standard telephone director (something like that), ask if the trains were on time, only to find out that they weren't, take a RICKSHAW back to his village train station, get on the train to Bombay, wait at Mumbai airport for 16 hours, board his flight to Frankfurt, get stuck in Germany for 3 1/2 days, fly to New York, wait THERE for 14 hours, and fly to Phoenix, only later to write the top engineering thesis on the west coast . . .

And all these Mexicans have to do is take off their shoes, put them on top of their head, cross the Rio Grande, climb a fence . . .

here in south Texas we use them in sub-minimum wage, off the books, work, nannies and car repair men alike.

Clearing the colonia?s would displace many children who have no home at all, who are American citizens, although their parents are not.

this is not a simple issue, and simple mindedness of any partisanship won't solve a thing.

I truly like the leadership the president has shown on this issue.

Only half of all illegal immigrants come from Mexico or Latin America. The other half are people that stay in country after their work or student visas run out.

I said that it would be wrong to clear them out, on a human rights level.

It?s also wrong to encourage people to come here and live in the squalor I see every day, which is what ?amnesty? does.

As such I like what George Bush wants to do *which includes brining them up to at least minimum wage*.

Observing the facts of the situation and making a moral judgment about them are two different things.

Its not racism, if its racism, europeans are the worst racists in the world. The proper term is xenophobia. And while you can say america was built by immigration, those who immigrated from europe and asia from the founding of our country to the 1950/1960s assimilated into the population as best as possible. Today mexicans and others from latin america refuse to assimilate because they claim they will lose their "heritage" or "culture". Its sorta similar to blacks staying in the ghetto when they really do have other options.

I only have an issue with illegal immigrants when they don't pay taxes, or they use the system without adding back into it. Other than that I don't really care because many are hardworkers and do jobs that fatasses around here won't don't. However, I must say that it does suck for those that want to come here legally, because then it is harder for them.

Well, my statement was fairly ambiguous. There's no real way to know a percentage, or identify those that fit my requirements.

I used the term because that is what i am generally called when i say that limiting illegal immigration to Europe isn't always a bad idea. (and if you think YOU spend money on welfare for illegal immigrants, well, you are not even close, and the people who come here will not be ALLOWED to take illegal jobs and actually most of them aren't very interested because welfare pays more than they could make and it never ever ends).
