on a side note why is this a crime? can i get arrested for having my wifes prescriptions in my home as well? wtf?

He said he faced deportation proceedings last year when authorities learned after a traffic stop that he had a criminal record from 2010 for driving with a suspended license and having his wife's prescription painkillers in his car.

DRUGS! You don't want to be soft on drugs do you? Huh? You low-life druggy!

Painkillers are a crime, don't you know? Your medical providers have already felt the assault and are required by a (nebulous) ruling that they won't prescribe too many or they go to jail.

OK about what am I supposed to get outraged here, anyway. I know. I should be pissed off there are people in prison on my tax dollar. They should all be dead.

If you don't want to do hard time getting paid a dollar a day, don't commit a road violation while your wife's prescriptions are in the car.

also having to many on you at one time is a crime, taking them across state lines can be a crime, having them OUT of the prescription bottle is a crime.

the war on drugs should never be against those that are prescribed.

LOL, with the quantity and type of meds I regularly pickup for my wife, I'd probably rack up multiple life sentences and be labeled a cartel kingpin. Fucking drug war.

The fact that he was threatened with deportation over something so minor is absurd. Really. The fact that the citizenry paid private contractors to imprison him while waiting for a hearing is even more absurd.

The thread title reflects the usual right wing bias & bullshit, as well. Menocal isn't an illegal alien, at all, but has rather held resident alien status for years. For propaganda purposes, it's apparently helpful to slime him as being an illegal.

I hate illegals.

But in general we treat prisoners horribly in this country and look how many repeat offenders we have.
We need to start correcting them instead of just calling it a correctional system.

You libtards should be pissed they don't get the minimum wage.

Years ago I was prescribed 90 vicidin (sp?) a month which came from the pharmacy in a huge friggen bottle. Now I didn't necessarily need to take them every 3 hours on the dot like the bottle said, I just needed them when it hurt. So the bottle is freaking huge and doesn't fit in my pocket so I take a few and put them in a much smaller bottle while leaving the bigger bottle in my truck (against the storage instructions on the bottle). We had an issue on a jobsite and I called the cops. They get there and do their normal patting down and shit and asked what was in my pocket, I had nothing to hide (or so I thought) and I pulled the bottle right out. Well the cops handle the original reason they were called out and I started walking away and one of them grabs me and says hold on son you are under arrest. I asked why and he pulls the bottle out of my pocket. My truck was quite literally 20 feet away and I kept telling them the original bottle is in my truck. Luckily one of the cops finally gave in, found the bottle in my truck and then decided to do a complete search of my vehicle since I had already "consented" and after finding nothing let me go.

Want to know the insane part of that story, the cop that let me go kept telling me how much of a favor he was doing me for not arresting me for some shit that he knew wasn't legit. That isn't a fucking favor it's doing your damn job and not arresting a completely (as far as the spirit of the law) innocent person on a felony charge.

That was the day that I learned that it is never a good idea to tell cops ANYTHING, regardless of how small or reasonable, beyond what is legally required. I could have said "nothing officer" and saved 3 or 4 hours of my life and damn near having to defend against a felony charge.

Not only will you be arrested but you will be charged and convicted with a felony in most places.

Ain't the war on drugs grand....

Please. In most jurisdictions you'll take a plea to misdemeanor/ probation because you can't afford a lawyer & a trial. It's not like they'll find a lot of juries who'll convict on those charges. You'll be paying to attend drug "education" classes & the citizens will be paying for you to be piss tested regularly. If you fuck up any of that, then you'll land in jail, at least for awhile.

The truth is bad enough w/o the bullshit.

You are absolutely correct, I just didn't feel like typing all of that shit out. Just like I would shorten all of the fucked up shit the state will do to you into a phrase like "anal raping". I don't mean that they literally penetrated your ass but figuratively you got raped all the same.

Just read up on the drug laws. It's unreal how much time one can get for non violent drug offenses. The guy shooting up banks, he'll be out in 15-20. Carrying a relatives pills or random in your car; 25 yrs.

Edit: People should start tossing pill bottles in the back of legislators pick up trucks & then calling the cops. Retarded laws need to go.

They should get minimum wage, it creates perverse incentives otherwise. And I'm largely a Nosferatu class arch-conservative.
Agreed. Plus we don't need yet another artificially-constrained group competing with our low skilled citizen laborers.

And I am sooo stealing "Nosferatu class arch-conservative" that my picture should be in the post office.
