That's when you buy it and sell it in the local paper or ebay. 😉

I caved in and bought a new desktop for myself. Thanks for the heads up on the deals and the 10% off coupon.

Dimension 4700

3GHz P4
512MB DDR2
160GB SATA HDD
16X DVD
Sound Blaster Live
Win XP

$375 Shipped. I'll keep a look out for an LCD and another big SATA hard drive and it'll make a fine computer for storing all my files. 😀

Whoa, saw a dim 8400 with 1gb ram, 3.2ghz p4, dvd rw and 160gb serial drive for $580 -- i might have to jump on that if it comes up again (i missed it, grrr)

hmmmm - curious about something.

I'm seeing different Dimension 4700's listed with either "DDR" OR "DDR2" ram. Did they really make a DDR1-based 4700? What other specs might be different? Socket 478 vs. 775? Chipset?

There are definitely a lot of hybrids out there. Like Socket 775 w/ DDR1, or Socket 478 w/ DDR2, etc. Curious if its just a mispring.

is this a good price? should i buy it?

Dimension 8400 Desktop, 3.2 ghz p4, 1gb ram, 250gb hd, cd-rw and dvd r/w and 128 video card. no monitor

I'd probably buy a sb audigy and a nvidia 6600gt for $300, bringing my total to around 1000.

thoughts?

is there a warranty on these machines? i was thinking about building a new computer, but i might just buy a dell if i can get a decent deal on a refurb model for about $500. im not sure how decent of a machine i can build for that much, at least right now.

Damn that is a great deal, I love the CPU, RAM and DVD-RW.

What video card?

Except for the 2400 and 3000 models, the rest come with a standard 1 yr warranty (on site too, I think). They can be upgradeable, up to 4 years of warranty.

Seems like a bad ass deal to me.

I think 711 is expensive -- the software isn't worth anything. You can find anything you need open source. I've been seeing systems for sub-350 in refurb if you catch on the release at 50 minutes after the hour. Just my two cents.

That system he posted is one the better systems, with a $300+ graphics card, and $200+ worth of ddr2 memory. It was a good deal.
