If you're already planning your next car purchase, what would it be?

My next car will probably be another GTI. Most likely I will get a CPO instead of an older used model like I am doing currently. I'm satisfied with the size, performance, and economy. I would also consider a Ford Focus hatchback if they ever make another performance model for the US.

I'm done for awhile. Going to keep the CTS and Vette until the new fuel standards are in full swing in 2016ish and then buy what makes sense. Hopefully the C8 Vette will not be a huge performance let down.

Probably an Escape Hybrid, mostly because it's what the wife wants.

Otherwise, I'll wait 2 years and buy an all electric Focus

Having just purchased a 2007 Civic, I'm not looking to replace it anytime soon.

However, when I do, I'm seriously considering either a 2012 Focus with a 2.0L Ecoboost or a Taurus SHO. I'm sick of driving wimpy cars!

I have it narrowed down to four.
Honda CR-V
Hyundai Tucson
Ford Escape
Kia Sorrento

I personally am leaning towards the CR-V, but the GF wants a Tucson. But we are still about 2 months out from purchase and will probably start test driving them late next month.

Used M5...
They are pretty cheap where i am at for the previous gen.
Found a couple of nice rides with less thank 40k on the clock for under 20gs...

Not sure which yet

MK6 Golf TDI
I4 6MT Fusion (would be my 3rd fusion)
new model focus hatch, again prolly i4/6MT

I'm kicking around the thought of an early-mid 2000's Z06, but that's not going to happen until I either make more money, have tons of garage space, and/or move somewhere I can drive one year-round.

Be careful. I owned a 5th gen like you and you'll find posts as recent as 2-3 weeks ago me saying the same thing. And now I drive a Prius.

I'm sorry...

A Prius is a useful tool with no soul. Keep in mind I only commute 2.5miles each way for my job, so fuel economy be damned.

VQ anything>>>>>>Prius

Just bought a car last year so it's going to be a while but I would be giving the Golf TDI a long hard look.

2.5 miles? Even I say you should be on a bicycle.

Personally, I'm looking to pick up a late 90's/early 00's Outback for $5k or less. Wife-to-be could use a different car since she always ends up getting door dings and such. And we could use a slightly larger car with more ground clearance for trips to the mountains, dirt roads, etc. Lowered cars are no fun offroad 😛

I actually do bike to work when the weather is nice, but it's not that much fun when it is 0F outside and windy during the winter...although that means the Z is off-limits too...

Piston engine has more power and fuel economy and does not burn oil? That's where the sense is. I like RX-8 handling and 4 seats, but would never get a rotary engined car.

Ford Mustang 5.0 = 412 hp, 390lbft torque 17/26mpg
Mazda RX-8 = 232 hp, 159 lbft torque 16/22mpg

So basically you have a Mustang with a V8 engine that has almost double the horsepower and way more than double torque of the rotary engine, and gets better mileage in the city and way better mileage on the highway. Where's the sense in that?

But, but, but...it weighs less than a fist full of man meat...so that's got to be good for something...right?

I would never drive a Prius though... That's why I bought beaters that were less than $1k. At least they're normal cars just beaten down, worn out, and cheap... A Prius is just not me, at all! I like my Nissans too much, and because I'm loyal to the VQ series, it just makes sense to have a G35 w/RWD and wonderful 6MT 😀

If my bank account can take it, I would like to get an '07 or '08 Evo 9 FQ360 MR later this year. I was hoping to get it last year, but fate threw a spanner in that plan.

I'm fed up and bored with my '05 WRX. I need more power.
