If your skin is flaky check out this article on zinc soap.

Basically the same thing as head and shoulders which uses pyrithione IIRC. If you have very dry skin / flaky skin, then it would be a good option as opposed to using lotion or whatever.

I do, especially on my face, where the flakes will exfoliate and leave small reddish patches, which just dry out and flake again. Becomes an endless cycle. I recently switched from using a deodorant soap in the shower to using Olay. Huge difference.

I also finally found a lotion that I can use on my face (from Amazon reviews) - Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion - without burning and causing even more damage. It's not exotic, and not expensive, but it works really well for me.

My skin isn't flaky but does get dry, especially my hands, which crack and split open in the winter if I don't take care of them. Like above, I like Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion, but their Body Yogurt is awesome for hands. I've been using it once or twice during the day at work and it's the best lotion on the planet. It leaves your skin smooth as hell with no greasy residue, plus it smells incredible. The only downside is the name is deceiving - it's not really yogurt so don't try to eat it. 😳

For hands, I swear by Neutrogena cream. Never tried the fast absorbing variety, though.

For dry skin flakey skin,
Try simple glycerin soap - (Or if you don't want to fall down the rabbit whole of searching, Neutrogena soap bars that you can get in a pack at BJs\Costco\Sams Club https://www.neutrogena.com/skin/skin-cleansers/facial-cleansing-bar/6801010.html)
Apply lotion of choice immediately after washing. Turn off the water, towel off and apply the lotion.
If you have "Flakey patches" on your face, make sure you see a dermatologist as it might be mites\bacterial whatever
