If your kid told you that he/she is ....you know, what would you do?

First of all, it's obvious to most that this is a poll. But, for others who didn't notice that it's a poll, you've kindly said in your post that it's a poll. Thank you. 😛

Second of all, we don't actually know what you're talking about. If I had kids and they came home and told me WHAT? That they're gay? That their clothes are dirty? That they're home telling me something? Clerify, bud. 🙂 But, in any case, I'm going to say that they came home and told me that they are not aliens. In which case I would TOTALLY disown them!! ...little bastard children!

Gay people (along with communists and democrats) are forbidden according to the bible.

So I would do the only thing possible: Kill them in the name of Jesus.

why not seperate male and female. Would parents be more likely to accept a lesbian over a gay guy?

Well, actually, by him not saying exactly what it is that we're polling about, it's interesting to see who comes up with what. Most people seem to be coming up with homosexuality. Why? Does that scare you? Why is sexuality the first thing you think of? Maybe you're all more scared that your children will be homosexuals than you are them turning out like my little bastard 1/2 martians. :|

😉 😛

the poll says "not straight", but it's still too stupid for me to vote in.

I'm guessing this thread was inspired by my thread here. That might also be the reason are immediatley saying homosexual, the topic is on people's minds.

You are really terrible at making polls. This is one of the worst I've seen. You've got to think through your choices. In your poll, I have to choose between male and female children. I have no children, so I am not able to answer your poll even hypothetically. What if I feel differently about male and female children? You could include options for those without children (I have no children, but I would disown them; etc) but even then you've neglected to account for gender differences. If you include gender difference, what about people with multiple kids, people who would vote differently based upon gender, and people that don't care?

Ok, rant over, I need some coffee.

EDIT: Since I don't have kids, I don't know that I could formulate a response. I imagine I would be shocked, but I would love them just the same. Despite any feelings regarding the morality of homosexuality (this is a general statement for everyone), children are a wonderful gift. Nothing should get in the way of family, IMHO.

so I am not able to answer your poll even hypothetically.

err..the point is to have people who actually have children answer.
Why did I seperate male and female?
I wanted to see if parents are more concern about their son being gay than their daughter. I find it hard to believe that out of the 18 responses so far, only 2 are for daughters. So whats first on people's mind when the question is asked? That tells you something too if you think about it.

Not worry about birth control?

Probably talk with them about what they feel are the roots of their homosexuality, their process of coming to that conclusion, encourage them, as always, to wait for sex. I wouldn't come down on them and preach at them: they're my kid, they'd already know my view and by the time they're old enough to make a claim about their sexual orientation, I've already had my largest chance to share my views with them. They have to make choices, good or bad, at some point.

I'm a Christian, btw, and I do view homosexuality as a sin. But we all sin, so why target homosexuals for ostratization, and what pedestal can any of us stand on to condemn another? There's a point in life where we all make our own choices and, providing my child was at that age (I would call that legal adulthood - 18, because before that, homosexual or hetero, they're not of the age to choose to have sex since I'm still responsible for them to that point), up to them and nothing I can do about it.

You can only pick one answer though, so maybe people would love their child the same whether they were male or female.

But by allowing people only one choice, it's obvious that people are by far more concern about their son being gay than their daughter.
