My official title is "Senior Project/Program Director" not that it means anything like it sounds. I am a server administrator at a med school/hospital. Our group (8 of us) handles 300+ Windows servers (real and virtual) here in our data center, and assorted other goodies around the campus (and state). If it is running on a server in the data center, and it isn't vendor-supported, it's our baby. My primary responsibilities (other than general OS stuff) are IIS and SharePoint (WSS and SPS), and I try to pick up the slack with SQL DBA stuff when I can.

I currently work for a small company, officially doing tech support, either over the phone or going out and seeing people (pool car FTW).

As it's such a small company though, I work next to my boss (head software engineer) so I also test software/hardware, write some software for use either by customers or within the company, help improve algorithms and things, write instruction manuals/user guides, update the website, basically dabble in everything the company does.

That's why I'm working for a small company, to get experience in a lot of things, to see if anything really takes my fancy to pursue for a more long term career. Unless the money gets really good, I expect to be out of here in 3 years time.

Atmosphere is informal, which I'm enjoying, and working next to my boss means that I'm pretty much his first consultant on new ideas and so on, so I get to be involved above my position I guess.

Windows system administration on 2000+ stand alone 2003 server boxes.

I created the unattended standalone reimage procedure from NT4 to 2003... (the company didn't want to send new drives, even though they're hot swappable on the boxes and easily accessible... oh no, they'd rather have us ghost over the existing image with a new one) that was interesting.

I also recently succeeded in creating what I believe is a pretty secure Internet Explorer solution for kiosk browsing... using local policies, specific registry changes and a backend proxy.
