if you won the lottery, would you retire or keep working?

lets assume the winnings are big enough to feed you and your grandchildren for life in opulent lifestyle. what would you do?

personally, i think i'd keep my current job. i have a great job, great boss, great co-workers and i don't dread coming in each day.
i'm 26 and i'd get bored of doing nothing all day, and run out of places to go and things to do eventually.

i'd have my gf quit and start our own business so she can work whenever she wants to.

I would disappear like a character in an old Warner Bros. cartoon... someone at work would be talking to me, and a second later it would turn into a smoke outline of where I was standing.

I'd keep working, but I guarantee you I'd have less stress about it. Retirement would be largely secured, housing would be paid for, and I'd have a chunk of cash in the bank if the job thing pissed me off too much. Losing my job wouldn't be a life debilitating thing but rather a temporary convenience.

I would most likely quit my job. I like investing so I imagine I would play a large roll in investing my winnings (purchasing companies, stocks, real estate, etc). And I would travel everywhere I ever wanted. Can't see myself coming back to the old 8-5 that is for sure.

Shit I'd be gone so fast ...

I'd goof off for a while then do the volunteer or part time bit ...

I don't think I can handle not working. I would setup a not for profit cooking school/soup kitchen. Train people to become cooks while at the same time provide for the less fortunate.

HELL NO would I work. I'd be tempted to come to work for a few days and generally be an ass to people that have pissed me off at work though. And then when they called me on my assholeishness to them, I'd tell them to kiss my ass, flip my desk over and walk out saying, "I'm rich bitch!"

I voted start my own business even though I already have one. I would invest a lot, and put a lot towards the business. Maybe hire a person or two and just sit back and manage.

I'd go back to school just to learn something I always wanted (Animation in my case). Beyond that I may get like some stupid part time job for the heck of it until I find my self the perfect job.

I like my job. I would keep doing it, probably invest a small sum (25-50million) into it and become a major stakeholder, and take a helicopter to work everyday since we have a helipad out back.

No point in doing nothing with my life and most normal people are busy most of the day anyway so it'd be silly to be lazing around all the time. Plus in the event of any catastrophic loss of fortune for any reason I wouldn't have a gap in employment - something tells me "quit due to gaining a fortune" would not look good on a future job application. 😉

1. Quit job.
2. Take time off (<1 year).
3. Volunteer time and money.
4. ...
5. Live off interest profit

I'd quit once we had an adequate replacement, I like the guys I work with and wouldn't want to screw them like that.
Then I'd do nothing for a while, and probably start up a music store, coffee shop, pizza joint, or something.
