If you won the lottery, how would you go about finding a good lawyer?

Lawyer for what? You planning on murdering someone shortly afterwards?

I'd claim it immediately and worry about it all later. You don't get the money for 2 weeks.

I wont need a lawyer, just get a bank with the highest interest, change all your phone numbers and enjoy life.

Look in the mirror ;)

Actually, I would call my CPA and let him form whatever team I might need. I trust him, he handles people who do not need to win the lottery (not me) and he is awesome.

At least five of my HS friends are lawyers; I would go to one of them initially.

I would never use someone I knew personally. That can get messy. But I would ask a lawyer friend who THEY would use, and consider that. I really don't think it would require one of the greatest lawyers in the country. Plenty of people out there with that amount of assets and they aren't all using elite legal talent.

Heck, I would even consider MotionMan if he felt up to the task. ;)

I would take a percentage then refer you to my CPA. ;)

I know the title of the thread set the tone, but I think it is funny that all the non-lawyers would look for a lawyer first, while the lawyer would first go to a CPA.

Lol, well if you had won, I think you would be the target of multiple lawsuits like Jack Whittaker there the need for a couple good lawyers. :)
