100 million pennies weighs a lot more than 5500 lbs.
Yeah, I'd say.

1 penny = 2.5086g * 100,000,000 = 250,860,000grams / 453.59237g per pound = 553,051.631lbs.

with the damage that 553K lbs of pennies does on a house, plus the time and labor to actually deposit the pennies in the bank....it may not be worth it.
I'd do it.

Your land would just be a huge pile of pennies. I'd build big concrete walls around the property and swim in it like Scrooge McDuck.

I figure I'd probably be able to scrape up 40-50k worth of pennies a year. Would be pretty good livin. ;)

remember whenever someone besides Scrooge McDuck tried to swim in the money bin? bam!

Without using a automatic coin counter, how long would it take you to roll 100 million pennies?

hell yea,

Just pay some mechanical engineers to build a machine that would scoop up the pennies then roll them automaticaly.

LOL this made my morning.

Who in the world thinks of such a question and then people around here answer it like a run of the mill question. And yes I'd take it a heartbeat. Make it 500k and then you might have people who'll reconsider

for 500K i wouldn't do it. it'd cost that much to rebuild the house.

I'd just take a bucket full of pennies and dump them in the Coinstar and slowly but surely get paper money for it. Sure, i'd lose some money from it, but i'd still end up with a good chunk of change from the 1 mill without so much of the hassle.

Cheers.

what about the damage to your home that 553,000 lbs of pennies did to your home?

even if you did 1,000 pounds in your bucket everyday, it'd take you around a year and a half to finish. sounds like a hassle to me.

Picking up a penny every second would be $36/hr

with a bucket... come on now... hassle my ass. How many here can make a million in a year?

A year and a half for a million dollars? That's 666k for one year..

1 penny = .1oz = $.01
100 pennies = 10oz = $1
100000000 pennies = 625000lbs = $1million

Ifs neatly stacked its 12'x12'x12'

minus the damage costs to your home. 553,000 lbs on a house could quite possibly destroy the entire home.

You know, that would be the equivalent of this being dropped on your house, and just because that's even a bit lighter than $1 million in pennies, add one of these (filled to capacity of course).

Sure why not. I'll start a child labored sweatshop using minorities and make them roll up every penny into a roll and then bring them to the bank for further exchange.

No, they would dump the pennies inside your house, destroying any furniture, appliances, electronics and walls in the process.

How would they dump them?from a skyhook?
use a c-130?

dumb question;when put like this.

if dumped in my yard, yes.I could hire another truck to take them away.

a little math
assuming you collect and roll one penny per second:
100 million /3600 = 27,777 Hrs
27,777/10 = 2777 (assuming you work 10 hours per day)
2777/365 = 7.61 YEARS!!!!!

If you worked non-stop,
27,777/24 = 1157 Days
1157/365 = 3.17 Years

You could of course always get someone to help you, but thats still going to take a while
