I used to trust cops, and while i respect most of them, the laws they enforce are unethical . . . don't know what i'll teach my daughter

wow, how many in this thread have been wronged by police officers?

EDIT: just to be clear. YOU must be the person wronged. not someone you know that is a friend of a friend who had a three legged dog that went to the same dog park as someone that won a case of police brutality.

My completely rational fear of police kidnapping children is the reason I will not have kids of my own.

so you blame cops for doing thier job and hate the laws? sounds like you should be pissed at the law makers, not law enforcement.

I had a bastard follow me for 20 minutes around my hometown, I was literally about to start flipping shits inside my car. Eventually I stopped at a McDonalds and ate breakfast; never saw that cop again.

this. exactly.

when i feel "guilty" for police alot of times.. it makes me not wanna trust them..

what the fuck kind of society do we live in where a cop can pull over my mother, and have her in tears, and threaten to take her to jail.. because her insurance card was expired (she had insurance, just not the new printout)

true story.... made me wanna kill a cop.'

it was because she was in her old farm truck, which is beaten up and old, rusty paint, etc.. cop thought she was poor.

How much did the jury award you at your civil trial?

Why would anyone teach their kids to go to a random stranger on the street over a police officer? Because you've gotten too many speeding tickets, or because they pepper sprayed some hippies? Give me a break; what an idiotic discussion.

if i was a cop, i would not enforce laws i found unethical.. that's MY conscience that would be on.. so frankly... i could never be a cop..

and to see people who are not that upstanding of people.. makes me not want to trust them even more.

why trust a cop who's willing to throw his fellow man in jail, over something they deem unethical?

seems lest trustworthy than the couple to me.

basically the argument of.. oh there cops, they have too...

did that apply to the nazi ss who were gassing people because "it was the law"

no, it doesnt... we prosecute them for crimes on humanity.

im saying, the nazi ss, thought they were "in the right" killing jews.. after all, that's what there government told them to do right?

now, we realize, anyone who would kill there fellow man (even if the law says so) is a piece of shit...

we all have that moral compass built into us.. we know right from wrong, and some laws today, violate that moral compass.. yet these shitty cops still withhold the "law" even when it's wrong... and im sure they feel guilty about it... but they continue.. i personally, couldn't do it.

I guess I'm an idiot because I have no clue what that has to do with whether it makes more sense for your lost child to approach a cop or a civilian.

because, it any sane human has a problem with being a cop and enforcing unjust laws...

what does that tell you about cops?

Because it's a potential dilemma for the parent. While I agree that a 6 year old can trust a cop, that guideline doesn't apply for the child's whole life. You have to balance the truth, the child's ability to understand complex issues, and immediate pragmatism with your advice.

16 and black... yeah try to get help from a cop.. lol

When I was 6, probably the police, but it depends which I see first, I'd trust both. Idealy I could just call 911 on a pay phone to get the police to find me.
