If you had to switch to Verizon now, what phone would you get?

Depends on what you want.

Big: Samsung Note II, LG Optimus whatever..
Mid: HTC One, GS4, Droid Maxx
Small: Don't care enough to know. iPhone? minis?

Why not an outpouring of love for the SGS4?
I used to think that the weak point of phones was the battery life due to screen power, so AMOLED, should be better always, right?

Droid MAXX has more battery life than GS4.

I like my SGS3, but I always feel like the hardware is just note quite fast enough to give it that smooth iPhone feel, and I am an Android fanboy. Are all the new features in the android versions as nice as it would be if they just held off on new things, and just made the system run 1/10 of a second faster? So, I am thinking if I can jump in the hardware at the right time with the right phone, it will feel faster. Is that even possible?

I have played with the all the top new verizon phones and the new lg g2 was far and away my favorite. The display on this makes is hands and feet above the htc one and s4. And it's an s800 which is the fastest cpu you can get right now and will be the best for quite a while.

I think the only other phone that can even compete is the note 3 and it will come down to if you want a phablet or a more normal sized phone.

HTC One if you need one right now.

TouchWiz is horrible (since S4), it's just more or less how much you can deal with how horrible it is.

I don't see Touchwiz as a problem either. I'm not sure why it is seen as such a big deal honestly.

I have no idea. It used to be poor but right now it's IMO the best it's been. I use a different launcher, but the whole TW backend and features are still solid.

I would probably say S3 revision of TW was the apex, before they added a ton of useless features.

well i just left verizon, and went to t-mobile to get a moto x. since the moto x is also on verizon i'd also get it there.

2nd choice probably would be the droid mini. but it'd be a distant 2nd. i hate how the S3/S4/G2/One are just a little too wide for your hands. the One is actaully annoying to hit the power button since its so tall

I can deal with Touchwiz but the bloats are a huge turn-off on Samsung phones. You get 3 sets of shitty apps (Google's, Samsung's, and whichever carrier's) that you cannot uninstall. I spent quite some time disabling stuff on the S4's for my family/friends and I got really sick of it.

Still, Samsung phones would be a strong contender if I had to live with the big red. Their stuff usually works well without unpleasant surprises.
