If you had to choose between having a career and...

If you had to make the decision between having either of the following:

1) Great career, ($500k+ salary/year). No long-term relationship, working long hours regularly.
2) Very bad career (Cashier at Wal-Mart, $30k salary/year). Have a long-term relationship with someone who truly cares about you, and kids! Don't need to work long hours.

Which would you choose?

Personally, I think I would choose number 1.

I would obviously have to choose #2. Money will only get me so far, and I have needs (and wants) that can't be fulfilled with cash. I'd like to think that there is always some sort of compromise though, and that is what I'm striving for.

Option 1 is on top at the moment.... must be a lot of people on OT that aren't too happy with their current financial status.

When you make 500k/year, please do realize that your mentality won't be the same as you are now. You'll be very paranoid of the people you meet and go into relationships with.
Do think that money won't change your perspectives, it does. I think Lost touched on this subject with the tubbo winning the lottery.

I would choose to #1 only if I were able to maintain an unamerican lifestile and actually save money and avoid being fat. After a couple years saving, I'd be set to retire and live like the dude in #2.

depending on the person, i think they attain levels of happiness just as high as the family person.

"no long term relationship" means not being committed for a long time, or not being married.
so what is a long time? you have a gf/bf for 5 years and then move on to another relationship?

some people never get married = no long term relationship. they don't find it necessary.
