Beyond that, brand dosen't matter too much. Though I wouldn't consider Dirt Devil, they're usually too small in scale for full sized vacs.

Best vac I have ever owned was a Dirt Devil. I killed it sucking up scraps of fire wood. Dumb me. Since then I have owned a Hoover and an Orek. The Dirt Devil had the best power for sucking on the sides.

I'm thinking of buying the Dirt Devil (it comes with an extra mini vac) that was on sale at Best Buy last week but I waited too long and it was out of stock at my local store. I think I can still order it from their online store though...

Nothing comes close to Hoover.
I've gone through 4 Eureka/Dirt Devil before settling on Hoover Self Propelled (not bagless one).

It's kinda loud and a bit heavy but it sucks like nothing else. Has been using it for 2+ yrs without problems (knock on wood). Get a Hoover and you won't be dissapointed.

You can get it from LnT or BBB with their 20% off coupon or Sears when they have their 10% sale.
