Wow, that is crazy tight, because they only need 12" of clearance. How would you even get out of a regular side-opening door if you couldn't angle it out more than 12"? I'd imagine you'd be stuck in the front seats too.

On the flip side, Teslas can self-park, so you can just get out & have it back in if the spaces are really tight...
Yeah I don't understand, if it's that tight then how is anyone opening regular doors on other cars?

The Model X is a pretty wide car ....
According to Google, they are 81.5 inches wide ....

my 08 fozzy is 68.3 inches wide ... 13.2 inches narrower ....
Modern camry or rav4 sized cars are like 70-73 inches wide ..
Base model F150 is 79.9 inches wide ....

So, maybe most people just drive narrower cars?

In order to get out of my 2014 Chevy Camaro SS (77 inches wide), I have to move the seat all the way back and recline the seat. Then I open the door slightly and slide out sideways.

Buying a vehicle, and feeding/maintaining are two different things. I like that Unimog posted earlier, but if I had to keep it up, I couldn't go that route. In that case, I'd go for a sensible army truck, and make a camper out of it myself.

I would give GXV and UNICAT a call and see what they could come up with. Something we could live in all the time and travel anywhere.

old army trucks will be more maintenance that a mog, the Stewart and Stevenson's are the best of the army trucks and are under-powered and not that great off road. I may go the MAN or zetros route. radio boxes are very heavy for what you get.

Did anyone else grow up with those old wagons with rear-facing seats? Stare death right in the eye as it was coming to get you :D

My best friend's parents had a station wagon with the rear-facing bench seat. Riding in that thing was always fun as hell. I wish they still made cars like that.

I wouldn't mind a nice fully loaded Hummer. And as a kiss my ass I'm rich car, a Shelby Convertible.

New Impala SS.

I need to carry a lot of junk sometimes and I don't want a van. If I wanted to go super fast I'd buy another Hayabusa. If I wanted crazy faster than a car fast I'd add a turbo.

this guy liked unimog, but went with Steyr because they were just a little bigger (14' shelter vs 12' shelter), could go faster stock and had more power stock

Actually, if fictional cars count, I change my answer:

The Delorean is definitely my favorite car of all time. Saved up since I was like 12 to get one. Decided against it after seeing the crash test video...some dreams best remain dreams:

I always thought a Delorean would be pretty cool actually. So I would either get that, or a pickup truck. Often times I think it would be nice to have a truck, but at same time not enough to justify the extra cost vs a used car. Even used trucks are quite expensive if you want a decent one.
