I live in a HOA community and they don't bother us one bit.

It cost $200 a year and that covers the street lights and landscaping at the entrance.

How do you feel if you have a next door neighbor like this guy? Talk about bad neighbor.

Quite simple, you talk to them and ask nicely or offer to help them clean up. The way a real community is supposed to work.

Look like the neighbors around him are done talking. A WHOLE FREAKING YEAR of trash outside and overgrown lawn?? It wasn't like they picked on him because he painted his house blue/green/purple or some silly stuffs. Talk about live like a pig and don't have any self respect.

Now I don't mind to help if he was disable or something but look like he just want to live like a low class pig and rub it in.

No, they want you to stop annoying the shit out of the people who have to live next door to you douchebag.

The only douchebags are ones that want to tell somebody what to do with THIER property.

That's socialism/marxism and a HOA is a perfect example of this nonsense.

Whatever dude...

Tell you what, you can live next to this douchebag then.

Living in a HOA would not have stopped this either. The city did the same thing a HOA can do and he fought it so it got drug out. Tell me how a HOA would have made this not happen?

Well I think the idea of a HOA being able to foreclose on a mortgage is rediculous. They are not the lender, they should have no rights to do so. If they guys yard is littered and the health dept comes and looks at it, it should be something handled by the city, not a group of people that only care about the value of their homes and having control over others.

Gotta disagree with you Spidey.

Noone can force you to buy a home in a HOA-- you decide to do that for yourself. Therefore, it is YOUR responsibility beforehand to understand the rules of the HOA so you can understand if they are compatible
with your lifestyle. If you don't like a particular HOA, find another home with a HOA more to your liking, or
buy a home with none at all.

I personally prefer a home with a HOA, as long as the HOA has rules that I can live with as well as prevent
me from having to deal with neighbors as obnoxious as this douchebag is.

Some people like country clubs (or other social clubs) because they can choose to associate with like-minded people, and have rules that not only keep the undesirables out but make the country club a more inviting place to play. Other people prefer the freedom that comes from going to a public golf course with no rules, even if it means dealing with the occasional loud obnoxious drunk on the course and subpar course conditions. Different strokes for different folks. But socialist, it is not.

He once joked to a Palm Beach Post reporter that, when he learned his neighbors hated his giant - and loud - truck, he cut the tailpipe so the sound would boom louder.

I wonder how Mr. "I-don't-follow-The-Man's-rules" would feel if another of his fellow rebels slashed the tires on his beloved truck. After all, those laws against destruction of another's property are just a bunch of rules. Idiot.

Yep. Instead of just foreclosing on his house, they should burn the damn thing to the ground, piss on the ashes, and shovel what's left into a velvet-lined box. Gift wrap it, and then deliver it to him (along with a sucker kick to the groin).

Agreed. HOA not found. This is a city nuisance complaint.

Uh... that'd be a strange form of socialism indeed if it included the notion of private property with CCRs attached.
I hate HOAs personally, but I have no sympathy for people who refuse to abide by them after the fact. They knew going in, before they bought the property. There's nothing "socialist" about it. The HOA and its CCRs were a condition of the sale.

Stupid HOA, but people who choose to live in them should accept these asshattery that comes with it.

It is virtually impossible to find a house in my area that is not part of an HOA. You have to be fortunate enough to either find a home built before these psuedo govermments became popular or buy a piece of land someplace not covered by one and have a house built on it.

QFT.

Luckily I found a neighborhood with few HOA rules.

Ditto. It's assholes like that which are the exact purpose for HOAs.

Unfortunately, the fact that some HOA nazis love to go overboard and give out such huge fines, the size of which could even possibly total up to $15,000+ in a year, is ridiculous. *note: I'm not sure what the timeframe was in this case, I'm just stating in general.

I don't have any problem with the truck, but he sounds like trash and the deal with changing the name on the businesses is just shady to be changing it that often, especially in the "health supplement" area.

seconded, theres nothing wrong with trying to find a community with "like minded" people. I personally wouldn't live in a neighborhood subject to HOA rules and fees, but I understand the appeal of it to some. Its just another factor to consider when searching for a home.

Consider the argument that someone can do whatever they want with their property, how much are you willing to tolerate until you feel they are infringing on your rights and enjoyment of your own? An HOA eliminates these concerns for many...

Many of you act as if a Home Owners Association is only in place to dictate how you live your life. You guys watch too many movies.

No kidding.

Number of years living in a planned community with HOA: 11
Number of times they've told me what to do: 0

There are many many communities around here that have HOA. It is very common. Hell, my condo had two! One for the community (which I still live in) and one for the condo community itself.
