basically living there for about 2 years, working a couple jobs (an in between period)

concerned about weather and not being bored (something to do on free time and nightlife (including people my age.. 22-24ish))

i've lived in the northeast my whole life so anything but PA and NY would be a huge change

anyone have any experiences living in any of these places?

Honolulu, Hawaii my friend.......I lived on Oahu for 4.5 years and it still haunts my dreams thinking about the stuff I did.

Probably Staten Island NY. I don't know my US geography that well but I'm guessing the weather there is not as extreme as FL weather. I don't mind a little heat, but I can't imagine having it all the time. Really if I had to pick any US place I'd probably go to Alaska. It looks pretty fun there, and they get plenty of snow. 😛

I loved living in LA for four months, I'd really like to move back to California at some point. There was always a crap ton of stuff to do, lots of great restaurants, the ocean isn't far, and the weather oh god.. the weather.

I'm about to head down to LA just out of college, living in Long Beach. It seems that there are many things to do down there, but most people compartmentalize into their respective town. Long beach has a decent night life, as does the hollywood area, downtown LA, and over by santa monica I believe.

Sacramento doesn't have a great nightlife, but it isn't far from San Francisco

LA is the best but you're going to pay for it and traffic is never fun. Never run out of things to do, plus weather is great. I lived in Sacramento for a couple years and I'd never recommend it to anyone at all.

I am living in Elk Grove right now.

What don't you like about Sacramento?

If you move to West Palm Beach you could pal around with alky!

There's nowhere on your list that really appeals to me...I visit Vegas every so often, but I wouldn't want to live there. CA is too restrictive on car stuff, so that's out...I dunno. Good luck!

depends on your age and what you want to do.

OP is a young graduate and most young people like the hustle bustle of big cities with night life, music scenes and other goodies. elk grove (and sacremento / folsom) doesn't have that. it's mostly suburbia which, imo, would be pretty boring without a family or significant other in your life

St. Thomas is awesome, went there this year. I'd also take HI but have never been. Do it while you're young. If you frickin settle for Staten Island or something you'll probably regret it later in life.

Well you can definitely scratch Atlanta off the list. I don't think you'd want to move there given your other possibilities.

I live in Atlanta, and the best thing about it is it doesn't do anything extremely awesome nor extremely bad. Everything here is just middle of the road, white rice kind of living. Seriously. If you move to LA or New York, those are some huge and incredible metropolises, but they also have problems. LA has traffic and huge Hollywood douche bags. NY has high rent and people get burned out from the pace of life. Yep, Atlanta: we won't amaze you, but we won't drive you crazy either. 🙂

I thought your story was that you were commissioning through an ROTC program. What's with the 2 year break?
