And if the court follows through on what the child wants, can the father start collecting child support from the mother's paycheck?

I don't have much knowledge on the US court system, but if indeed what you say about "the child has all the rights" is true, the above should happen as well, should it not?

It's very rare that a father who has custody gets child support in turn. Nature of income levels between the sexes being vastly different.
