Ah come on guys, after all, it's not like he knocked her up on purpose...;)
If this is America he's talking about, it's the land of "good excuses", where nothing we do accidentaly should be held against us...

are we talking accident like JD from scrubs?

He was talking dirty and has some premature firing that landed on the outskirts.

Anyhow, you're screwed. I could've sworn some women took a used condom and got herself pregnant, guy still had to pay up. Or was that a hypothetical.

"If you accidentally get a girl pregnant"

There is no such thing as an accidental pregnancy. Unintended, yes... accidental, no. You accept the risk regardless of the birth control employed by either party just as you accept the same risk of contracting an STD regardless of the protection used.

So, yeah. Man has sex with woman. Woman gets pregnant (e.g. condom breaks, lies about birth control, pull out too late, etc.).

Baby undeniably belongs to man (e.g. man doesn't deny it, DNA shows it, etc.)

Man decides he wants nothing to do with woman and never speaks to her again.

Is woman now entitled to sue man/ask for child support/etc.? If so, what can the man do in response?

Please don't turn this into a thread about MORALS. It's obvious that guys who do this are pretty scummy. I'm just curious about how the law handles it.

The guy is. Unless the contraceptive was malfunctioning (e.g., condom with spermicide), in which case you sue the company. OR, the girl said she was on the pill, and lied (burden is on you to prove that).

Welcome to a world really run by women. When it comes to children, as a man you have no say in anything. If she gets pregnant you have no rights about the child. I find it funny that women want equality and what not, but if they have a kid, screw equality, they will do whatever they can to get $$$ from the man.
It's pretty sad. All the people saying do have sex if you're not prepared to have a kid, look at it from a rational point of view. The woman knows she can get pregnant and thus should not have sex unless she is prepared to have the kid and pay for it her own damn self.
men do have a say silly. they can have sex or not. there's your say.

Your replies make me LOL.

Do you happen to own a bra? Or did you burn them all?

Bend over and take it in the ass financially for the next 18 years.

I purposely avoided reading this thread...but then just had to. The very first reply (quoted above) sums it up, 100% accurately. I know this to be factual and correct. Unfortunately. :(

You have the right to pay her, that's about it. No input on whether she keeps the child or not

OK, so I kept reading. I'll tell you what happens.

Unless the father spends the money, hires a lawyer and SUES the mother for violating a court order...nothing happens. NOTHING. Mother keeps on doing whatever she wants, parading her Middle Finger of Defiance in the father's face 24 hours per day and the father has to suck it up.

My sons' harpy of mother has been doing this to me for 11+ years. We had the typical visitation agreement (still have, technically) and you name it, she violated it. Weekend visitation- violated. Holiday visitation - violated. Consulting on education and religious schooling - violated. Equal sharing of travel related costs for child - violated.

Back then, I didn't have $3K to sue her. Now I could come up with it if I had to...but don't see the point anymore.

The bottom line is this; unless you are 100% sure she's on the pill, you either bag it, pull out or don't have sex. End of story.

Basically. The woman can get a court to decide on the amount of child support a man has to pay out AND get the money to come directly from the man's paycheck...shows up on your paystub as CHSUP along with everything else that is automatically taken out.

What happens if you don't have a job?

They notify the credit bureaus and a tracker is placed against you SSN. Back Child Support continually accrues. The second you start working on the books and paying taxes, they garnish your paycheck. Nothing you can do about it. Oh, and they revoke your state driver's license too. You can get a special court order allowing you ONLY to drive for WORK...so you can pay your back child support. Ain't that a bitch?

Anyway he finally got rid of her. My other friends and I had stopped talking to him for a few months when we saw she was smoking pot while pregnant at his house. Apparently they decided to be just friends and had broken up by the time this had happened, him telling us the baby isn't his. Fast forward to a couple months ago and my friend gets the surprise of his life, he is the father of a 2 year old kid. He has no job and still lives in his dad's basement.

I feel bad for the guy because he is screwed.. he had a chance at moving out on his own with his current g/f of 3 years who works for minimum wage at a grocery store. I mean they would've been poor but they would've been making it alright if he found a job. Now he is basically stuck for the next 16 years.

So how will he get charged for child support?
If you don't have a job and are (whether purposely or otherwise) living in a friend's basement or your parent's basement getting free housing/food, what will happen?
What is the next step the courts can take to get child support?

What is the next step the courts can take to get child support?

They ultimately will put you in jail depending on the state you are in, the judge/court, and whether the mother is going to continue to push for support in the absence of it. Bottom line, there are many men that do the right thing, and many that don't. The court will ALWAYS rule in favor of the child's welfare, regardless.

NO MATTER WHAT ALWAYS GET A DNA TEST BECAUSE SHE COLD BE LYING!!!! Always be 100% sure that the baby is yours. There have been stories where the woman has said it was the man's but years later DNA tests proved it wasn't his. By law the woman only has to accuse the man of it being his, they need no proof so make sure you get a DNA test to be sure.

My main issue with these are...

If a billionaire man and woman tango, and she becomes pregnant and they start raising the child together.
Three years later, they go on the "Maury show" and the man gets the suprise "You are not the father" statement, why is that guy still obligated to keep paying child support even though it's not from his sperm and he's not the biological father?

Child support? Who determines the amount and how exactly is it determined?
Why should a billionaire have to be paying thousands/month to support a single child?
It does not take $5,000/month to support a single child...VS...someone else who's in the same situation with a lower salary and only pays $300/month.

And yes, remember to wash your underwears with bleach...Don't let anyone do laundry for you because it's quite possible for a woman to get impregnated from days old masturbated sperm.

Well, the guy I saw on the "Maury show" looked like trash...Lets say $42k/yr.
The woman looked like a trash also...Lets say $38k/yr.

How much will the child support be?
Post the formula you used to calculate also.

Who that?

Just the craziness of some of these things disturbs me...
I have no problem with a male who knowingly engages himself in sex and has to pay child support, but what if he didn't and the woman gets impregnated from a bath towel or something?

Would be pretty hard for the guy to disprove he didn't "do it" with her in court...

Do you honestly think women are just dying to have your babies so badly that you're in danger of them stuffing your underwear or bathtowels into their vaginas? Have you considered getting checked for schizophrenia?
