If unemployed and outta $, would you move back in w/parents?

Lets say you got laid off, and have run out of $ looking for a job that's even somewhat related to your field.

If you have the option, Would you move back in w/parents till you can find a job in your field?

Or find any $10/hr McJob and move to a new place w/cheaper rent and/or get roommate(s)?

I would get a McJob first b4 swallowing my pride and ask parents for help.

How about you?

Depends on how old you are. I know some of my high school teachers moved in with their parents when they were 26, or 27. They did it while they were looking for jobs, I think. 😛 Then they got them, and bought a house 😉

If the parents were ok with it, then no doubt I'd move back in with them. I'd do it for my own kids, and my parents (and in-laws) have let us live with them when we moved.

Don't foresee the military kicking me out any time soon. But if it came to that, I wouldn't hesitate to move in with the first person who would take me. However, whether it be friends or family, I'd always pay my share of what's due whenever I could, so it doesn't really matter.

I think I will be moving back home when I graduate. Only because I am not sure where I am going to end up. Maybe a little bit of travel, or work in another city, so not much point in setting up a place with roomies if I don't know how long I'll be here.

McD's jobs are that high?

move in w/ parents. I don't see any shame in that as long as they are cool with it. I moved back in w/ my parents after grad school. Although its not ideal, it allows me to save a whole lot of money that I will soon put towards a downpayment for my own place and I do things around the house to assist them.

I'm 24.

Easy as sh*t question, move in with parents. I did that before. Why not? it was like 8 years ago and I spent about 6 months doing some tech reading/taking certs and drinking beer and playing a ton of video games while I was on unemployment insurance. That vs mcjob and a random roomate, are you kidding me? I also got married halfway in there, went on honeymoon, then back with mrs in the basement. Classy, if nothing else!

i would do contract work through temp agencies and move to a cheaper place. A McJob cannot pay the rent. Either that, or become an overseas english teacher, join the army, or do missionary work. Parents live too far away for me to depend on them,

I'd look at every possible job option, but most of those 10/hour jobs are not even close to enough to pay rent so I'd probably look at living with my parents temporarly but I'd be job hunting like crazy as well as looking at business opportunities to make money. Once I'm out and back on my own I'd probably pay them back just as a thanks for the help type deal.

ZOMG! what a bunch of losers who aren't contributing to society by living with their parents!!!

Yeah, seriously. Everyone should just GTFO soon as they are born. Parents don't love you, they don't want you. They don't love their children...

I'd move back in with my parents, or my fiancee's parents, without hesitation. Both families would love to have us move in anyway. Might be my Italian upbringing, but I don't see any stigma or hurt to one's pride by living with their parents. Pretty common in our culture to live at home until married anyway. I'm really the only one who didn't do that, because I moved a few hours away for work and law school.

Move back in with the parents, for sure. But I'd do it before I spent thru all of my capital. Heck, I might make managing my capital my day job, if I had no expenses.

You know in some countries, wages and opportunities are so poor and property is so expensive, people never leave home. You have whole extended familes living with mom and dad and anyone else who happened to be born there.

Our daughter and 3 grandkids moved in with us about a month ago...NOT an ideal situation for any of us, but it's better than a shelter for the children.
(her ex is a dirt-bag who refuses to support the kids...even when they're all living together.)

He's one of those folks who can always manage to buy beer and party with his GF, but he can't buy food for his own kids.

Hopefully, she'll find some kind of low-income housing project to move into before I pull ALL my fucking hair out...
(grandkids are 4, 7, and 9)

Live with parents + McJob + do everything around the house that I can do to help out while I'm there.

Working full time at a McJob and spending every cent on rent + housing expenses is counterproductive and won't get you anywhere - not to mention, you have to put up with a (potentially shitty) roommate(s).

Actually that's how it is in China isint it? The wages there are super crappy so it's pretty much impossible to live on your own so they just keep expanding the household.

Absolutely not. Maybe when I was 20 or so, but approaching 30 there's simply no way. If I hit rock bottom I'd leave the country.
