This is reasonable. I don't think Clinton would necessarily be a problem if she stayed through her full term, but Kaine is, dare I say it, safe. No big scandals (legit or imagined) are hounding him, to my knowledge. He has his religious side, but he doesn't feel compelled to impose his religion on others like so many Republicans do. He's liberal without being polarizing (which means that he probably wouldn't institute any dramatic improvements, but still).

I'd see him as Obama minus the elevated expectations: it's not so much about overhauling the system as riding out the Republicans' current sky-is-falling approach to politics, where brinksmanship is okay and every Democratic candidate is portrayed as the worst thing ever. Maybe the Republicans will even realize that they can't keep alienating minorities in 21st century America.
