Wow. WTF comes up with these things? This could have ended very very badly. Not just for the residents of the house either. If he had chosen a man who believed in defending his home with lethal force, there could have been a good shootout with a life/lives lost on the law enforcement side as well.

Some people go into their back yard with kitchen knives, some people wait next to the doorway/window with a firearm ready to blow the intruder (swat member) away.

How did they catch him? You'd have to be pretty stupid to do something like this from an IP address that's connected to your name.

dude you would have to be pretty nieve to actually believe that there are ways to keep law enforcement from finding you...even using a proxy there are ways!!

Law enforcement is not omnipotent. It just depends on how much effort you're willing to put into becoming hard to trace, and how much effort they're willing to put into catching you.

Routing through multiple anonymous international proxies, for example, would be pretty hard for them to trace.

I would assume that if you are hitting a car with a sledgehammer, you're going to break something.

Man....

That could have turned out REAL bad. I hate to think what would have happened if the home owner would have walked into the backyard with a shotgun instead of a kitchen knife.

damn....now THAT'S a prank!

I like the "assault with an assault weapon by proxy" charge.....so lets see, the cops pulled their weapons due to reasonable cause, and now they are charging the kid for doing their job.....

I honestly think it's a valid charge, as it attempts to represent the seriousness of causing an individual (or, in this case, group of individuals) to draw assault weapons against an unsuspecting third party.

Exactly.
