And no I wouldn't get my panties in a bunch if I saw a bunch of black people protesting. I'd have my panties in a bunch over what might happen if the protest went badly, especially if they had guns. See Martin Luther King Jr. assassination and Rodney-King riots. Once again, I'll point out that not all black people participated by far (one guy actually rescued one of the white riot victims), but it should be noted that in both cases the majority of rioters were African American.

Show me an American protest predominantly consisting of any other race that resulted in such widespread damage and destruction, and I'll shut up. It's up to the culture to change itself. Racism is on a steady decline nationwide, the barriers are fewer and fewer.

Yes up until the bolded. If I was born in a ghetto I'd probably join the military if that's what it took to get out.

Hell my dad, who is now a PhD in Electrical Engineering and making close to 6 digits, was the son of two violent alcoholics. A stay at home mom and a coast guard grunt. He never even touched the military.

I'm talking about the 0's not the exceptions. I'm an exception as I was working to feed my mom and brother at 16. What I'm talking about are the 0's on both sides. Surely you see that the 0's from well off families have an easier life?

Yes. I fail to see your point. Barring some disabling medical disorder, everyone can be an exception if they choose to. Some just lack the will for whatever reason.

Semantics. I'll get more specific:

Barring some disabling medical disorder, anyone can work their way out of the ghetto and into a good life if they so chose. Sure they may not all get 6 digit salaries, but they can considerably elevate their quality of life.

The point is that if you come from a higher socio-economic background you don't have to work as hard to achieve said goal. Infact you might not really have to work much at all.

are we ok? I think we generally agree on the issue. What I find to be unnerving are people from segment 2 judging people from segment 1. Those same people doing the judging under similar circumstances would probably be the same 0 in a shitty situation.

How do immigrants have an advantage? Some of them can't even communicate with the people around them. People in the ghetto grow up with the advantage of knowing how to speak and write fluent English. People in the ghetto also grow up with a bit of a support network while many of the immigrants in my engineering classes came alone.

I find it rather ironic that when Bush lowered taxes and ran up deficits, it was bad. When Obama does the same, it's celebrated.

The real truth is that neither lowered taxes. They deferred them. You cannot run up those kinds of deficits and not raise taxes in the future. Higher taxes are coming, it's not a matter of "if," but "when."
