It's funny how no one seems to be able to recall history or look at the big picture. If your parents were subjected to legal discrimination and couldn't get nice, cushy jobs in their nice, cushy suburbs, you'd probably be a different person too.

Guess what? Immigrants come to this country every year and they work hard and play by the rules and eventually get out of the ghetto. You see immigrants from Hati and Africa, both black, come here and work hard to succeed. They have the same skin as our African Americans, yet the outcome of the two are usually different. One ends up getting a job and working hard, the other usually ends up committing crimes, impregnating his girlfriend and going to jail.

Aside from the lack of legal instiutionalized slavery for Asians, it's hard to argue that early Asian immigrants were substantially better off than their black contemporaries through the 1800s and well into the twentieth century. Racially motivated riots, lynchings, and exclusion from all sorts of businesses and activities were the name of the game for much of this time. Not to mention the simple fact that yes, there was also widespread discrimination "at the governmental level" until 1965, less than 50 years ago. You don't know shit. 🙄

1600-1964 = 364 years.

Not to mention, Japanese people weren't shipped over in boatloads to the US to be used as cotton pickers for, well, 265 years (give or take).

Yeah, how much more is it gonna take? I don't know. Lasting racial issues combined with urban "ghetto-ization" policies need to be brought down first. That, unfortunately, will never happen, because the poor need to be kept poor.

They could probably live like royalty if they didn't waste the money on drugs and the latest styles. You see blacks walking around the hood and whats the first thing you notice? They're wearing new sneakers, Jordans probably, and sporting a Kobe jersey. When I was growing up, we got 15 dollar payless shoes and enough money for 7 dollar T-shirts every year.

lol yes, because the rampant racism against The Japanese that spawned that internment originated, acted, and concluded over the course of one year; and you talk about this magical ability of yours to see the big picture lol.

Aside from the lack of slavery, Asians weren't much better off than black people in terms of racism. I learned that in public schools in 4th grade btw.

As for lasting racial issues, WE JUST ELECTED A BLACK PRESIDENT OVER THE TRUE BLUE WHITE CONSERVATIVE! I think most Americans have openly stated that they're over racism.

And a lot of the modern "racial issues" are self inflicted. A lot of African American "culture" has become popularly synonymous with "gansta". Here's a hint: Gangstas are low-life thugs who get low-class golddigger women, have no real impact on the world and usually end up in jail or prematurely dead. This is bad thing, and a bad image, but plenty of black people (and low-class white people) seem to be cool with it for some reason. More than a few flaunt it. Not saying that all black people are like that by far (I know plenty that aren't) but that's the popular image. Last I checked white people didn't start it.

And that's just one example. Sometimes it's a lot more literal (see Nick's youtube link to the "Obama money" morons).

I think you're completely unaware of how the ghetto, trailer park, or whatever really ruins peoples lives. Being an immigrant puts you at a significant advantage vs those people.
 
How do you suggest this culture be changed that you all so vehemently dislike? Should we just give up on these people who are so "below us"? When you have institutional racism established in cities and states by the means of policies that favor keeping the poor poor and the "gangsta culture" alive, how do you expect ANY of this to change?

As stated in this thread, there'd be too many of you in your panties in a bunch if you saw a bunch of blacks huddled together protesting, so this'll never change.

You know it's weird. Two of my closest friends are from those areas, and they're some of the best people I know. Yeah both their lives have been fucked to hell from day one, but they've come out of it good people. On their own. Maybe I've found the extreme minority, but it's definitely doable.

HINT FIXED : 95%+ of tea party members who scream about socialism and higher taxes had their taxes lowered this year many while drawing SS and Medicare and have no fucking clue what they are pissed off about other than there is a darky in the WH.
