If the FDA approves it, would you use the male birthcontrol shot?

I heard on the radio this morning that some researchers are getting very, very close to getting the male birth control shot figured out. They have gotten it to the point where they can suppress the semen production, but they still have to test it's "affectiveness", meaning, at what percentage does it reduce pregnancy.

Basically, it would be a shot that you would get in your arm every 6 weeks. I have no figure of what it would cost.

If it was FDA approved, with minimal side effects, would anybody here take it?

If it was as effective as say, the pill, yes. I figure if my wife & I are really trying to avoid pregnancy, one in 1,000,000 odds are a lot better than one in 1,000. (obviously made up numbers, but you get the picture)

Every 6 weeks fvck that. My wo-man plans to take pill until we've cranked out a couple of rug rats then I'm gonna get my manhood taken away permanently.

If it was proven safe and depending on the side effects, I'd do it. The pill for women can have some annoying side effects, so I would deffinately be careful.

The news clipped also talked about how the scientists were trying to work it so that the same exact shot would would be effective for women too.

Basically, you and your significant other could make a trip down to the clinic together and get the same shot every six weeks.

I'm no scientist, but I think that a biological birth control in men would be less of a health hazard than biological/hormonal birth controls in women.

Men have more working parts, but overall, the system just isn't as complicated.

I'd wait to see if there were any side effects. If it was proven to be safe, then I would definately use it.

Well, good deal for you then, because if she's on the pill it's gonna be a very long time before you crank out some rug rats. ;)

PCAddict, I believe that semen only makes up part of the "payload" so to speak. Only the semen would be abscent.

I would probably take it. I plan on getting a vasectomy after child #2, but in no way do I plan on having my "manhood" removed.

Never mind that that is usually just a higher dosage of the regular birth control pill.....
