If Peyton Maning & the Colts DON'T win the Super Bowl

His father, Archie was a great quarterback but never won a Super Bowl. Dan Marino was a great QB and never won a SB. Peyton sounds like he thinks a SB win is necessary to have a really successful fullfiling career.

If the Colts don't win, it's prolly going to be the defense's fault. Nothing Peyton can do about that, other than switch teams.

So, should Peyton quit the Colts and try to get on with the Chicago Bears if the Colt's defense screws it up?

I've thought about the loyalty thing. But really, if Peyton didn't perform the Colts would dump him. So, if they can't perform, maybe he should dump them.

He's on one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. It doesn't take that much for a defense to go from worst to middle of the pack in one off season. A new DC and a couple of free agents and there you go. (Ask Seattle)

Besides that, Indy has had decent defenses in the past. Not elite defenses but middle of the road, servicable defenses and the Colts have still failed to come through. They remind me of the Chargers in the Air Coreal days. Win like crazy in the regular season and gack it up in the playoffs.

Peyton Manning has been a choker since high school. Sure he'll have good regular seasons but if you want a championship, better go with a real QB like Tom Brady

Of course he wants to win the SB, what player doesn't? Having a SB ring does not make you a great QB (ask Trent Dilfer). He will not dump Indy to get one b/c he feels loyalty to that team. Get some D and they will be fine.

Um... you just can't quit and go onto another team. I think he has a long term contract, meaning he isn't a free agent or restricted free agent.

The best he can do is ask for a trade, but who can the Bears give him? They sure are not going to give them Urlacher, Tank, etc.

I think Peyton's best season has already past.....numbers and statistics don't always show which one was best. Being able to make something happen out of nothing and throw the ball perfectly to your receivers are both skills that Peyton is slowly losing.

He's a great QB, and they run a great offense, but they will never go anywhere with Peyton because of his gigantic salary. They can't afford free agents on defense to improve. They have had the same problem for what, 5 years now? Great offense, no defense? Good luck winning a Super Bowl that way.

Meh, Cowher has a year left on his, Saban had several years on his Dolphin contract.

Prolly just takes some money to make it happen. If he wants to quit, I don't think they'd try to force him to stay.

Seems to me all the Bears need is decent QB to win the SB. Jeez, look how many games they've won with that boob Grossman. The Colts, OTOH, remind me of those teams in the past with a great QB, like the Dolphins with Marino or even the Bills with OJ carring the ball, where everyone else on the team sort of sinks into mediocracy. Seems like a weird phenomenon

Of course the Doplins had good/great receivers and the Bills had a good run based O line. But no SB wins.
