[This is an almost hilarious thread, even if I didn't want anyone to laugh at Boomer.]

I'm wondering if I should try doing my daily mile backward, but I'd want a pair of those glasses that give you eyes in the back of your head . .

Well, that's it. I'm out of Folgers Coffe-fe, and I want another lb of sausage to make another batch of Bolognese sauce, so I'm headed out to the grocery. I'm not sure walking backward in the grocery store aisles is a safer idea than the park trail . . .

I dunno . . . I'm hungry. I can see getting fat-burger during this circuit at the drive-thru. Back to the Bolognese sauce: Freakin' tomatoes just keep on comin' in the darn garden, and the cucumbers -- I've got so many jars of dill pickles I don't know what to do. Maybe I'll just grill my own fat-burger and use some dill pickles . . . .

Hell...if you can't laugh at yourself...make fun of other people.

You can always donate your surplus produce to an area food bank...

I know some people(online) that endorse walking backward. Not health nuts. Just people that beat the shit out of themselves at their daily jobs. Never did it myself, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for people with beat knees; at least not without a professional consultation, but if you're in otherwise decent shape, it might be interesting to try. Maybe some place safe like a school track, where the terrain is even, and moving dangers are minimal.

It can be done indoors too. I do it that way, just walking back and forth across the room. It is a bit disorienting and if you do it too fast, it could lead to imbalance or falling.

Dang-it...I'm going on 5 days with a screaming headache...plus coming down with some kind of bug. Affecting mainly my head and sinuses...and I suspect it's behind most of this headache.
Haven't gone to a doctor...I've been treating symptoms with Kirkland brand "dayquil and nyquil" caplets...just ran out of the night time version, so I cracked a Kroger brand of "Theraflu."

The pills and this liquid all expired in 2018...but they should still be good...right? I mean, perhaps not quite as effective as when they were new...but not "bad." Hell, I have percodan from 1994. My doc told me to keep it and use it if I need it.

OK, first I checked if this is the H&F section because I'm appaently dangerous enough to get someone unalived with my words. Anyhow, that chamomile ingredient supplement I've been taking, it helps my sleep and prevents bad headaches from lingering too long (at least, that's my theory). Plus, drinking freshly squeezed mango juice and taking Taurine 1000mg helps ME a lot (it thins the thick mucus lodged in the sinuses). So this is what helps ME. Not responsible if this doesn't help you. That's my disclaimer. Proceed at your own risk.

I remember we had an exchange in which you mentioned that a moderator had chided you for advice you gave me. But it is perfectly true -- at nearly 78 and with my pre-existing conditions, nothing you ever recommended had some sort of adverse effect. In contrast, my Metformin prescription sometimes creates a slight problem in the lower digestive tract -- making the morning evacuations "loose".

But I thank you for the tip-off about beet-root extract and similar supplements, like Cordyceps-M.

Frankly, I don't know how you find the time to inform yourself about all of this wonderful stuff, but you have certainly helped me out.

Well…since posting last night, this sh*t seems to have broken. My sinuses are no longer so packed and pressured that it feels like I was punched in the face…the “I have a virus coursing through my system” feeling is pretty much gone…and the headache is almost completely gone…I ALMOST feel human.
Thank you AT docs!

However, (it’s always something) I woke up with “gout foot” at the base of my big toe. 😡 Walking is possible…but painful. (I know it usually only lasts a day or two…so, this too shall pass.)

Well…scratch that…about 5 p.m., the crap started coming back…with a vengeance. Headaches is back, sinuses (R, side) have re-pressurized…and the nasty yellow water is dripping out of my face.
Over the past few days, it’s come and gone in waves…kind of, never quite going away…
Earlier, I was feeling great. Sinuses “depressurized,” headache finally gone, no “yellow water” dripping out of my nose.
I should have known it was too good to be true. Hopefully, this just just a step towards recovering.
(fckn viruses)

I'm not just joking. Getting old sucks. You get rid of one problem, and up pops another. Whack-a-mole!

Try and make yourself comfortable. I went for my walk today, got my endorphins, still feel slightly anxious, don't feel like doing chores. I'm going to make myself comfortable and just . . . . wait for tomorrow!

Sinus problems. I've had sinus problems all my life, but a lot this past week especially. Yellow drainage from the nose is a sinus infection. Products that can help:

- Mucinex. You can try the D version instead if your heart is up to taking pseudoephedrine.
- Ibuprofen in particular also helps me decongest, if you're not on aspirin and your kidneys are up to it.
- Sinus flushing. Wal-Mart has NeilMed products. You can try the neti pot or the squirt bottle - they do basically the same thing. Edit: Never use tap water without boiling it!
- If it sticks around for a week, ask your doctor about an antibiotic.

You can try pressure points, if your head isn't too soft.

Did you forget...the title of the thread is "If I only had a brain."

Yeah, I'm giving it until Wednesday, if it's not significantly better by then, (it will be a week) I'll be heading for the Urgent Care...40 fckn miles away. (there are times when living way out past BFE has its drawbacks)

I'm actually relieved when that happens because it signals the ordeal coming to an end. The start when water is just dripping ALL the time is the worst!
I've had yellow water running out of my nose for a week...when I blow my nose, it's thick yellow snot/mucus. (and it tastes horrible when it runs down my throat) Sinus infection almost for sure.

That usually happens on the 4th or 5th day for me and after that, the symptoms usually subside.

Did you have some old frozen cheese or ice cream? I've noticed that dairy frozen too long seems to act differently in causing sinusitis, as opposed to fresh dairy.

Wow. A week is too long. By the way, freshly squeezed mango juice isn't an option where you are?

LOL...freshly squeezed juice of any kind isn't an option here. I'm not a fan of mango anything. Guava I like. I've been drinking a glass of Ocean Spray 100% juice Cranberry juice every morning for the vitamin c.

The yellow nose water was my first sign something was wrong...it all went downhill from there.

No. We almost never have any ice cream in the house. My wife is lactose intolerant...and I buy ice cream, she gets mad at me when she eats it and it makes her sick. 😛

Why not? Fresh fruits not available there? I'm not into mango juice much myself (prefer mango milkshake) but I have noticed that it does help speed up recovery from sinusitis.

Guava juice is amazing. My regret that I can't have it as much as I want because the cafeterias here don't stock guava even though annoyingly it's on their menu.

I think these are yummy. Our local Dairy Queen keeps them in stock. https://www.dairyqueen.com/en-us/menu/non-dairy-dilly-bar/

You can also use frozen bananas to make "nice cream". https://www.liveeatlearn.com/how-to-make-nice-cream/#wprm-recipe-container-21132

Sinus infections suck. I worked at a place with a leaky roof and I kept a sinus infection almost the entire time I worked at that place.

She Who Must Be Obeyed demanded Ihaul my ass to the urgent care. Took over two hours to be seen by a P.A., another hour to get out.
"Probable sinus infection. Flonase and an antibiotic in case the Flonase doen't work."
<sigh>

I think the woman in the Flonase commercial has nice gams.

But here's another suggestion. NAVAGE

You have to buy (order from Amazon, etc.) the salt-water pods, and there's no way to mix your own and load the NAVAGE with it. But -- not expensive, and it works great.

When you use it, warm up 225 to 275 ml of water in the microwave for NO MORE than 35 seconds, then fill the NAVAGE and insert the sealed salt-water pod. The nasal attachment can reverse the flow by twisting it 180-degrees. If the saltwater solution seems yet too warm, then let it rest for about 3 to 5 minutes and resume your nasal flush. This thing will help keep your sinuses clear, and reduce nasal obstructions like BOOGERS and SNOT. 😀👌

The device could cost as much as $100, but I bought mine in 2019 and it's still working great.

As for the ice-cream problem, what's wrong with Sherbet? Orange? Lime? Strawberry?
