If I ever had a Ferarri, I would never take it to the mall.

Fingerprints...I can deal with that.

But NO ONE has the balls to key a Ferrari. A lowly Civic or Accord, sure. But anyone can apprecitae a 360 Modena.

1 Year ago, I was dining out with some friends in downtown DC (Georgetown). After eating we were heading back to the car which was parked near Water street and came upon three kids no joke engraving thier initials on the hood of his 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta with some kind of cheap Spyderco Knife. Needless to say I had to keep my friend from going ballistic and killing these punks. We detained them until the MPD showd up. They were quite frightened with my friend going ballistic, and me with my SIG P228 (all I had to do was pull my jacket back and put my hand on it when I ordered them down on the ground.

I have to ask him how much thier parents had to pay in restitution. I imagine it is not cheap to re-paint a Ferrarri hood.

I am surprised you could identify the type of blade. Spydercos are actually pretty nice. Did you expect kids to carry a Sebenza or something?

I should have said cheap Sypderco knock off. I usually carry a microtech or an emerson in a kydex rig.

are you a LEO? why do you carry a piece around?

You don't have to be super Bill Gates rich to buy a Ferrari. Just being rich (200K+ income) is probably enough.

Considering the cost of ownership... Ferraris aren't exactly what people call "reliable", kinda the reason why Ferrari has that 24hr roadside assistance. And if you make 200K+, that's more than enough to have someone else do your shopping.

What does your friend do that allows him to own a Ferrari if you don't mind me asking? Also, what do you do that you carry a piece? I need to get in you line of work.

Last week while on vacation we were out eating breakfast at a Pancake house when a red 355 pulls up. We finished eating and walked out past it and in the sun light could see swirl marks all over the place. It looked liek the guy has run it through a 100 automatic carwashes?

When I get my Ferrari it will never be sent through a carwash.

I don't see how it is any different for someone to key a civic or a ferrari.

It isn't like someone who keys a car is going to have respect for another car, that doesn't make sense.

I'd take it to the Galleria where they have private parking, but I would never take it someplace like Willowbrook. That place sucks.

My friend who is a bit older than me started a small defense contracting firm which is coming up on its seventh year of operation. He actually started making money the second year which always impressed me. He drove a 1991 Toytota Corolla with a right rear quarter panel that did not match the rest of the car up until the time he bought the Ferrari. He has a regular car (A Honda Pilot which he drives around daily) as the Ferrari has been a maintenance nightmare for him(but then again it is a Ferrari) he almost never leaves the dealer service department with a bill under $1000. I worked on and off with his company etc. in various contracts. and currently work for the DOD and that is all I am going to say about myself specifically.

Damn, must be nice to reward yourself with a ferrari for hitting it big in business. Hopefully one day....🙂

It's not a perfect story. His fiance left him because he worked too damn much, and his parent's have basically disowned him because he is not doing what they feel he should be doing as an Asian son (long complicated story).

I'm taking some heat from my girlfriend as well. It was tough when I had to tell her I was moving out so my friend and I could live together so we could "work" more, on top of our regular jobs. Hopefully she can deal with it for a little while longer....

shi1tz that sucks for him, it's fvcked up that his parents disowned him just because he does what he likes and what he is good at. well i guess people are hard to understand.

btw, my friend's dad in L.A. just bought a Lamborghini Diablo with 789 miles on it and he only takes it out on weekends. Their house already has a garage for 2 cars, but just because he didnt want my friend to mess with the car, he built another garage just for the Diablo and keeps the keys in his wallet. LoL 😀
