I love my dreamcast.

Sheesh, the guy at Rhino Games tried to act like he knew what he was talking about but I quickly learned he was clueless. My 8 year old son knew more about Dreamcast than he.

First, I saw some used "light guns" and asked if they were for Dreamcast (I could not see the connector and they looked aftermarket). He said,"Oh no! If it was I would have snatched it up long ago.". "ok" I say, "well do you know if the Dreamcast light gun will work on LCD RP TV's are only on tubes/CRT TV's?"

His reply "We've been testing that, we hooked it up to my flat panel.".......I say "and???". He looks at me and goes "Well, we're still in the testing phase of that."!?!?! WTF?!?! If you don't know, just say so okay.

Then I say "I know it's a long shot, but do you have any VGA adapters for the dreamcast?". He counters with "Why would you want one of those???". "Well, I have two VGA inputs on my TV and would like to use one for that. Supposedly the games own with higher resolution.". He actually looks at me and says "I doubt that's true, but I'll look in the back anyway.".

After 5 minutes of digging in the back he produces a set of RCA cables, for the N64 😕. I didn't have the heart to tell him anything other than "I don't think that's it, but thanks for trying man.".

Egay, here I come

I have 2. I love them. I have a keyboard, and the LCD converter. Holy crap do games look awesome with it. It was $5 IIRC from EB games. I haven't found a lightgun or fishing rod yet though. I love playing Half Life on it. Totaly awesome. There are also emulators for almost every platform, so you can play gameboy, SNES (DreamSNES), genesis, NES, SMS, turbograffix 16, MAME, and almost anything else you can think of and legaly own.

I can't really answer either question, as they are both 'quasi-leagal' and I don't want to get a vacation. I use them legaly, but that doesn't matter, I will probably feel the ban-stick anyway.

Just look on google for half-life + dreamcast and DreamSNES which is the best SNES emulator. The information is easy to find.

What do you guys think I should be look for in prices on the consoles with a controller and the hookup cables? I see some of you got them for between $5 and $15. On eBay, they are going for between $50 and $130 😕

What is considered a "good deal"?

I paid $20 for my 2nd dreamcast from ebgames and $5 each for brand new controlers, also from ebgames.

The auction I won tonight was $28 shipped. I saw a lot of other auctions ending for $35-$40 shipped the past few days. Mine included a working console, 1 controller, 1 VMU, 1 rumble pack, and the cables.

Is there any kind of multiplayer available with half life?

Supposedly there were models that had VGA output, or something to that effect. I've never seen one myself, but that'd be pretty handy to have if you had a large HD monitor or something.

Ive got one. Totaly rocks.

I had a Dreamcast, but I think my wife tossed it when we moved because I hadn't played it in a long time. 🙁 :| I'm thinking of getting another one just to play Skies of Arcadia again.

got one off fs/ft... a bit more expensive than the prices quoted here but no gamestores by me seem to have the DC anymore.

I checked Gamestop.com and a few EB Games/GameStops around the Omaha area have them. I might just go get one from them instead of eBay or FS/FT.
