Well, saying "Oh, look at those poor Europeans." is foolish. It's their fault for accepting those taxes, I don't care if they're paying $15/gal. It doesn't mean we should feel lucky that our gasoline isn't as heavily taxed.

I DO feel lucky. Do you think they want to be taxed so heavily? No. They don't excercise the degree of control over their government that we do over ours.
Do you think smokers here like the extremely high taxes on cigarettes? Those taxes don't exist in Europe.
