It costs nowhere NEAR $1/hr. to keep your computer on. I voted for $0.05/hr.Originally posted by: RedArmy
It would have to be enough to offset the cost of keeping the computer on at least, so somehwere in the middle...a dollar an hour sounds good to me.

I'd never participate in a project that solely benefits a for-profit company unless they involved me in some sort of profit-sharing scheme. I'd crunch for free only if there was a guarantee I'd reap some benefit for my effort later on.Originally posted by: Tick

Let's assume it's for developing new artificial sweeteners.

I'd seriously consider it, especially if they promised to limit their advertising budget to something reasonable (not like the budget for Cialis or Viagra or other huge drugs).Originally posted by: Tick

I remember Process Tree tried this out in the late '90s and failed.Originally posted by: Tick

Actually no, because I don't have the budget for the servers needed. Also, I'm sure some corporation has thought this up and done a feasibility study, and determined it not feasible, because it's obvious enough that if it was doable, we would have hear something about it.
