I hate the way M$ keeps trying to shove IE down my throat. I remember Netscape and what M$ did to kill them and will never willingly use IE, no matter how many Firefox features they steal.

I love IE7. loads fast, and never crashes. I never had a problem w/ it. just the lack of extensions is the only negative.

Good times.
I don't think the Wii one really counts though, because i never said it sucked, just that it isn't interesting to me as much as before.

IE7 never crashes on me, but that doesn't deter me from using FF as my primary browser. Restore session and open recently closed tabs FTW.

Firefox's performance has been downright putrid for me as of late, but IE7 doesn't seem to be as stable as FF. Bah.

It blows alright, you should see how software development companies are taking it, my boss almost cried when he had to deal with all the crap IE7 introduced, crap that we have been asking Microsoft to resolve, yet they haven't touched it till now.

I don't understand why Firefox's performance is lacking for some of you guys...for me it is very fast, and even faster after installing Fasterfox.

Of course, if you have 50 extensions installed, it might hog some memory and take additional time to load up.

Opera, the "world's fastest browser," is easily the slowest out of the 3 on my system. I've used it and tried to like it, but aside from the Back button being lightning quick and the Wand feature, it doesn't offer much for me. The torrent client sucks, the email client sucks (well compared to Outlook and Thunderbird), and it loads pages slower than IE6, IE7, or FF.

I actually don't have any extensions installed for FF. It still takes a while for it to load for me on a fresh reboot, and there seems to be a memory leak - no matter what web pages I have loaded, if I leave FF running for long enough it chews up a lot of memory.

I have google set as my homepage for both IE7 and FF.

to go from a fresh launch IE7 loads in about 3 seconds. FF takes about 10 seconds.
Loading other sites takes longer in FF as well, especially if there are pictures on the page. I think fasterfox is the only add-on i have installed for FF.

How exactly are they shoving it down your throat?

It comes packaged with MS operating systems. Big suprise there, sure they want you to use it, but you are free to download any of the other tens of browsers and use them. XP will even ask you if you want to use that new browser as your default?

Its no different than any other OS coming preloaded with a browser. How else are you going to go out on the web to download a browser if one doesn't come preloaded? The majority of people have no idea of what FTP is or how to use it from a dos shell/box so thats out of the question.

The constant security pop-ups that come up every time I try to download and open a file in IE 7 or IE 6 SP2 drive me nuts! It's almost like the browser is stuck in "newbie mode", and thinks that I'm too stupid to decide whether or not a file is safe.

I'm sure MS doesn't do anything favorable like pre-loading all the necessary .dlls and whatnot into memory at the OS start-up...

Congrats on never having any problems with it. I guess that proves it is a 100% flawless product.

I hate the UI of IE7.

PS: for those who say that IE7 is better because it loads faster then Firefox. Did you know that IE 7 is already pre-loaded before you even load it up? It gets loaded on windows boot up.

Only reason I use IE7 is for web development testing

mine never crashes or gives me problems. loads faster than FF too.

But it can't block flash ads, improving page load times, security, and aethetics. NoScript FTW!

Wow, here come the misinformed FF zealots again. Some things will never change. At least there are a few saints in here who use FF but admit it's mostly due to their habits and that IE is actually just fine.

For all of you who don't know sh!t:
- IE7 does have extenions, they're just call add-ons instead
- With one single add-on IE7 CAN block flash ads and normal ads, AND support retrieving recently closed tabs
- IE7 on default without add-ons can save/restore a session
- Tabs can be turned OFF, the menu bar can be turned back ON, and using a single add-on the menu bar can even be moved back to the familiar IE6 position
- Add-ons can be had to add script support, mouse gestures, spell checking, and inline searching
- For most users it's exremely stable and loads faster than other browsers. Even if this IS because things are pre-loaded in the OS, who the fvck cares? It still benefits me!

Do I need to continue? Sheesh.

Please prove this. If you can't I'll assume it's incorrect. Even if it is true, refer to my previous post.

FF has thousands of extensions, and if you really want to add something that's not there yet, or modify something so that it works better; with a little programming expertise, you probably can. IE will never be able to compete with OSS for extensions.

So Can FF

FF also stores sessions by default.

Disabling Tabs and bringing back IE6 is even worse, and is irrelevant.

And FF has a spellchecker. Beat that.
