netscape 4 crashed too often for me. i was tired of seeing that netscape feedback agent pop up all the time. ie works better for me.. at least stability wise.

Opera ROCKS!!!

but for this poll I'd say IE since that seems to be what the webpages are written for.

ie loads faster cause a good chunk is already loaded. Mozilla .9 was pretty nice actually, a few bugs in some stuff... but it's getting there. work on the load times + memory usage (i don't know if this is because of the debuggin or not)

And what's w/ this IE taking the whole system down? Run as a separate process, that fixed it for me... what was even better was switching to win2k too :)

mozilla .91 for me
i like the mail client better.
and if you code for netscape first it usually works a lot faster.
i actually had the javascript to check browser then send IE people to netscape download once.
and as for javascript... netscape invented it, i don't see how anything not fully compatible with netscape's implementation is proper.
as for layout, mozilla has the most accurate layout engine, completely standards based, unlike IE which will fix your wrong code with its "best fit" engine.

Mozilla is all standards based, which is great, but it doesn't render those standards as well as IE does. Maybe with some time and effort, the rendering engine in Mozilla will be improved, but right now it has LOTS of problems.

It's not so much javascript itself that Netscape can't handle, as how javascript interacts with the DOM. IE has a much more complete implementation of the DOM than NN4.x. Netscape 6 is better, but still needs work to catch up with IE.

NN4.x handling of CSS and DHTML is terrible. Slow, buggy, limited.

I could go on and on. Go check out web developer message boards to see what professionals are saying about the various browsers...

I like opera, but use IE more. Five years ago, Netscape was all I used. IE was terrible. Now I can't stand netscape.

I was formerly a big Netscape users, but after Netscape 6 got released I switched to IE 5.5 because Netscape started adding bloatware and getting laggy.

I still use Netscape v4.75 on Unix boxes though . . .
