Am using both IE 6 and Netscape 6.1 beta. Netscape 6.1 is much improved over 6.0 and 6.01. It loads up faster, pages come up just as fast as IE plus it looks cool. I don't even consider IE as a browser anymore. Its part of Windows and Windows is part of IE. The same is going to happen to Media Player. And if there is a cool app down the road, Microsoft is going to make a similar product and slowly assimilate it with the OS to get rid of the competition. MS is like the Borg.

Heh...another sheep. That's a good one. I'm a hardcore linux hacker.
It's my main and favorite operating system. I only use windows if I play a computer game (and I've pretty much said byebye to games).

Mozilla/netscape 6+, are fast but buggy as Amish said, some of the stuff like timmings for rollovers are too fast and buggy, BUT its very fast on java, frames, and parsing tables.

well MS sucks bad, but i will say IE 5.5, is quite nice, and very stable(on 2k at least). As a webdesigner, i'm so glad netscape is going away soon. :p

There's a freaking reason why Netscape is quiting the browser business! I've always hated using their browsers, although it is much faster on Mac's than IE, on an iBook POS I used at work during school, IE would slow everything down like crazy. Then again, the damn iBook was a POS too.

Their new 6.1 release was pretty good. And that was because they got with the program and made it compatible with HTML standards.

I've never coded for Netscape and never will, at work we spend half our time freaking figuring out how to get Netscape to display things right. Even the consultant we spoke with working on a parallel project was bitching about Netscape. Hopefully the Navigator installed user base will wither away quickly, then I wouldn't have to worry about compatibility problems.

Actually....i'm almost tempted to use Javascript so that whoever goes to my website with IE will be forced to another page so that they download netscape :)

Get some people to use netscape :p

look, i'm glad you support linux. I do to. but netscape sux. saying a statement like you said up above shows you don't realize how much effort poeple go through just to make it look right in netscape. mozilla is fine, opera is fine, konqueror is even fine(though it does support a lot of things yet) i'm sure it's working its way up, but netscape is suck!

Word up brother!

It's ridiculous that I have to spend half the time on a project tweaking the code just to make it look right in Netscape. What a horrible waste of time... Navigator please die a quick death. Netscape is a good company, I still respect them for what they were, but unsure of what they are trying to become under AOL's guidance...

Exactly!!
i mean yes netscape was good during versions 2-3.0 (considering the time) but it's just went down hill the past 3-4 years.

Netscape 6.1 ain't that bad, they fixed a lot of issues, but it took them too long to get it right, when IE had it right since 4.0, so Netscape, just pack it up an leave, I'm tired of trying to make things work in you.

Yeah, that might work if Netscape's implementation of JavaScript/ECMAScript didn't completely suck. ;)

I tried Mozilla for three days. I like its interface, but it's load time is so long...you have to look at that dang sea monkey/dragon whatever it is. IE is always the way to go....classic is best.

I'm a web developer, and I work with all the various browsers every day. By far the best is IE 5.01. IE 5.5 has some annoying bugs and is slower than 5.01. Netscape 6 is a slow, buggy mess. We don't even fully support it on our site because of all the rendering problems it has. The Netscape 4.x browsers are okay, but technologically eons behind IE. Opera's promising, but without better javascript support it's not going to be able to handle cutting-edge sites. IE 5 for the Mac is pretty good as well, but not quite there with the PC.

Let me also say that I generally hate MS products. Win2k and IE 5 are two examples of MS finally getting it right.

I agree, Win2k and IE have been working flawlessly for me. I hope they continue the trend with WinXP...
