I can imagine North Koreans would find Christianity very attractive, since except for those in power they are certainly the meek. And there is an underground that literally risk (and often lose) their lives spreading the Word. But for a round eye to slip in, he's going to do nothing but endanger himself and anyone who doesn't immediately turn him in.

The ultimate irony is that he wants to improve NK's human rights record and instead his imprisonment (if not execution) will only be yet another black spot on that record. idiot indeed, even if brave and well-meaning.

Ah, less idiotic then. But since the North Koreans seem to be dedicated to starving themselves into another species, I assume that, yes, he would stand out. Still, if he had Korean ancestry then I have some sympathy for his wanting to tell his fellow Koreans of Christ and risking his life to do so.

The bad part is that we will be expected to pull this man out of North Korea. The guy is obviously an idiot, but our entire nation will have to pay for his stupidity. Great job!

I don't know why so many posters here insist on calling Park an idiot. To me he is just another religious fanatic. Since his activity was nonviolent to others, I could care less what he does. Perhaps not the most objectively rational decision, but so what? Over and over again history has been changed by those making objectively irrational decisions.
