- Hardware for a gaming PC is cheaper than ever. You won't break the bank building a mid level gaming system that can run all current and upcoming games fine. Even budget systems are good to go.
- You don't have to upgrade as often anymore. The hardware has outpaced the developers. I was thinking about upgrading my 14 month old pc today but then decided hell I don't need to. It's still plenty good enough even for the upcoming games. Well not totally true. I did upgrade to a HD4850 in August
but I sold my 8800 for $100 so it cost me $50 to upgrade my video card. Cheaper than a PS3/360 game. When to upgrade is a personal choice I have guys at my LAN who haven't upgraded in 3 to 4 years and are perfectly happy.
- ATI released strong performing gaming video cards (HD4850, 4870) at reasonable prices in June/July. If it wasn't for ATI making a drastic reduction to their video cards prices Nvidia would still be ripping off gamers which in turn was hurting the PC as a gaming platform. So thank ATI by buying one of their cards.
- PC games that are multiplatform tend to lag behind the console version for their release date. However the are being improved upon, more content added in some cases and look better. Plus you don't have to pay for additional content.
- The PC versions can also be bought for up to $30 less (if you catch a sale).
- You can play recent PC exclusives Mount and Blade, Kings Bounty or the upcoming Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and this
empire total warwhich I'm dying to play.
and if this doesn't force you to PC gaming nothing will. Personally I can't support a platform where the companies ultimate goal is to force micro transactions down your throat.
Valve being forced to charge for TF2 content Microsoft force Epic to do the same with Gears of Wars extra content.
