Yes i appeared for the FMS-DU entrance exam but couldn't qualify it either. Will try again next year. I keep failing in all exams i appear for. 🙁

Hey man, i have a question. You live in the US, right? Tell me, do companies avoid hiring you if there is a gap of an year or two between your school and college?

Nobody here gives a shit here. I know it is a big deal in India, but you don't have to worry if you maintain good academic standing.

Thank god. I wanna get into the computer science field. I hope i can get into NIT Allahabad or IIIT Allahabad and study CS.

Last year Facebook offered 1.34 cr rupees package to a CS graduate from NIT, its a very good college, almost equivalent to the IITs. Thats why i really wanna study over there.

Hope you don't mind me asking this, what do you do in the US? Did you immigrate from here or your an American-Indian?

Immigrant working on Ph.D.

Trust me on this, do no fall into this trap. Please try to ignore all the crap your parents have been feeding you and think for yourself.

First, stop comparing yourself with others. Why do you care if someone(from a population of 1.2 Billion) secures a good starting package. I bet he/she is a MBA graduate with no prior experience, how can he/she manage someone by having little technical knowledge and no managerial expertise. I couldn't get into an IIT and I am sure I wouldn't have been admitted to an IIM, but the whole system of studying MBA having no work experience is just fucked up. You'll come to know when you join the workforce and see brain dead IT workers and their incompetent managers making life hell for everyone.

Second, stop thinking that people are worth only by the money they make. I know some excellent coders who make peanuts, but are happy to work in startups and are enjoying their lives and their job. There are also highly paid folks who are nothing but drones just getting along by kissing their managers' ass.

You are young, and even though there are a lot of negatives.. India does have some promise. Stop falling into the trap of what your parents are trying to sell you, stop being gullible and don't limit yourself. Start working on a simple project, learn to code.. and start being creative with your programs. A good project is worth much more than good grades when it comes to CS.

i think you've misunderstood me here. my parents aren't feeding me anything. I want to be software/engineer from the very core of my heart.

That guy isn't an MBA. He did a B Tech in Computer Science, and cleared 9 rounds of phone interviews, and so facebook gave him a pay package of 262K USD p.a.

Big tech companies only accept mostly phd grads. The occasionally hire lower end people because they've done something outstanding like writing code for a company and stuff.
