Ichiro to Yankees

And guess who just lost 5 of their last 6 and ARod for 8 weeks? It's a good thing they have Ichiro now b/c that will be a huge blow to their offense. And don't forget that there's still plenty of time for more players on any team to get injured, just like what happened to Philly this year. Let's not count our chickens before mid September.

Winning and losing streaks are part of the game. Yanks have many major injuries too. They still have a 7 game lead in the conference. Arod is having another bad year, he's over the hill and way over paid.

If he's having such a bad year, then why is he batting 3rd and contributing to the highest winning % in the majors. (NY)

Check his stats. The manager is just plain dumb or scared to move Arod lower in the lineup. Most every say he should bat 5th or 6th, not 3rd.

lol @ mad Phillies fans. Halladay and Lee are over the hill, Utley is done and Howard will never be the hitter he was 5 years ago. Your best prospect is a mediocre second baseman that got busted for steroids. You are in for at least 5-6 years of suckage. Lets see if you keep selling out that park. Maybe Nats fans can buy some tickets for you. 😀

His stats are almost at the exact same as last year (on pace). He helped them get to the playoffs and it will be no different this year. Statistically, he's only 10 points behind Grandy's OPS+ and is almost batting 30 points higher in average. The only guys ahead of him significantly is Cano. Tex is 11 points up in OPS+ and ARod is batting 11 points higher in average. The prototypical #3 has to bat for average and power and Grandy/Tex can't hit for average. That leaves ARod or Cano. Cano is head and shoulders above the rest of the team in OPS+ so the decision is easy to have ARod->Cano in the 3-4 spots.

It's more likely that, being surrounded by chumps, pitchers have just pitched around him giving him nothing good to hit. They won't be able to do this on the Yankees, so I'd expect his stats to improve quite a bit.

He's had crap around him most of his career and put up great numbers. Nobody has been pitching around him because he's been an easy out the last two years.
